  • 37 Why You Feel Stuck in Survival Mode (And the 5 Things That Helped Me Get Out)
    Jun 8 2026
Do you ever feel like you're always preparing for the next problem? If you're a Christian mom who feels exhausted, overwhelmed, anxious, or like you're constantly just trying to get through the day, you may be stuck in survival mode without even realizing it. Maybe your mind is constantly scanning for what could go wrong. Maybe you struggle to relax fully. Maybe peace feels temporary, and no matter how much progress you've made, you still find yourself slipping back into anxiety, control, overthinking, people pleasing, or emotional exhaustion. In this episode of The Mindset Mom, I'm sharing the five biggest things that helped me move from survival mode toward peace, healing, and freedom. I share how survival mode showed up throughout different seasons of my life through anger, emotional reactivity, codependency, hyper-independence, guilt, control, and constantly trying to stay one step ahead of potential problems. What I didn't realize at the time was that many of those behaviors were actually attempts to create safety. I also share how health struggles became the catalyst that led me into personal development, mindset work, journaling, mentorship, trauma education, nervous system healing, and ultimately a deeper understanding of my identity in Christ. If you've ever felt like you're carrying the weight of everything... constantly preparing for what could go wrong, or struggling to experience peace, this episode will help you better understand WHY. You will learn: Why survival mode develops in the first placeHow trauma, stress, instability, and emotional pain affect the nervous systemThe hidden ways survival mode can show up through control, overthinking, hyper-independence, people pleasing, and perfectionismWhy survival patterns often continue long after the original danger is goneThe five biggest things that helped me move from survival mode toward peaceHow awareness became the starting point for healingWhy daily mindset work and journaling helped me recognize unhealthy patterns and beliefsHow replacing fear with God's promises transformed my thinkingThe connection between physical health, emotional health, and mental well-beingWhy boundaries became a critical part of my healing journeyHow understanding my identity in Christ finally helped me feel safe Survival mode is not who you are. It's a learned response, and healing begins when you stop trying to create safety through control and start finding safety in God's truth. One of the biggest things I've learned through healing is that true safety is not found in: 👉🏻 control 👉🏻 people pleasing 👉🏻 perfectionism 👉🏻 hyper-independence 👉🏻 overthinking 👉🏻 or constantly preparing for the next problem True safety is found in knowing whose you are. The answer is simple: 🩷 You are a child of God. That truth became one of the safest places I have ever found. Scriptures Shared: Isaiah 41:10 | 2 Timothy 1:7 | Psalm 46:10 | Romans 8:15 📝 Homework & Community: The Safety Reflection This week, ask yourself: 👉🏻 What currently makes me feel safe? Then ask: 👉🏻 Is that true safety, or is it control? Spend some time reflecting on where you may still be trying to create safety through: 🫶🏻 overthinking 🫶🏻 people pleasing 🫶🏻 perfectionism 🫶🏻 hyper-independence 🫶🏻 carrying everyone else's burdens Then ask yourself: 👉🏻 What would it look like to trust God with those areas instead? • 36 Why You Feel Constantly Overwhelmed (And How to Find Peace)
    Jun 4 2026

In this episode of The Mindset Mom, I share how years of stress, overthinking, emotional suppression, hyper-responsibility, and survival mode eventually left me mentally and emotionally exhausted, and how learning about nervous system regulation completely changed the way I viewed overwhelm.

If you constantly feel overstimulated, emotionally reactive, mentally exhausted, or like your brain never fully rests, this episode will help you better understand WHY.

An overloaded nervous system struggles to hold peace, patience, clarity, and emotional regulation… because it’s already carrying too much.

One of the biggest things God has been teaching me is that stewardship includes how we care for: 🩷 our mind 🩷 our body 🩷 our emotions 🩷 and our nervous system too

Sometimes healing looks like: 👉🏻 prayer 👉🏻 renewing your mind 👉🏻 slowing down 👉🏻 boundaries 👉🏻 counseling 👉🏻 mentorship 👉🏻 and learning how to regulate your nervous system

Seeking support does NOT mean you lack faith.

Sometimes wisdom looks like getting the help your mind and body need so you can finally breathe again.

    Scriptures Shared:

    Matthew 11:28

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.”

    Romans 12:2

“Be transformed by the renewing of your mind.”

    1 Corinthians 6:19

“Your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit.”

    Philippians 4:6-7

“Do not be anxious about anything…”

    📝 Homework & Community:

    The “Oxygen Mask” Reflection

    This week, ask yourself:

“What am I carrying right now that is overwhelming my nervous system?”

    Then ask:

“What would putting my oxygen mask on FIRST look like this week?”

Maybe it’s: 🫶🏻 resting 🫶🏻 saying no 🫶🏻 asking for help 🫶🏻 scheduling an appointment 🫶🏻 drinking more water 🫶🏻 journaling 🫶🏻 praying 🫶🏻 creating healthier boundaries

Small daily shifts matter more than you think 🩷

  • 35 Why You Feel Emotionally Drained Around Certain People (And How to Protect Your Peace)
    Jun 1 2026

In this episode of The Mindset Mom, I share my personal journey with people pleasing, emotional hypervigilance, childhood trauma, and learning how growing up around emotional instability can unknowingly train your nervous system to carry emotions and burdens that were never yours to hold.

Growing up watching my mom endure abuse, heartbreak, financial struggles, and emotional pain caused me to subconsciously take on the responsibility of not adding stress, fixing problems, protecting others emotionally, and constantly monitoring the emotions of people around me.

If you’ve ever felt emotionally drained around certain people, this episode will help you understand: 🫶🏻 Why you absorb other people’s emotions 🫶🏻 How childhood patterns affect emotional overwhelm 🫶🏻 Why empathy without boundaries leads to exhaustion 🫶🏻 How to protect your peace without guilt

    You’ll learn:
    • Why certain people leave you feeling emotionally exhausted
    • How people pleasing and hypervigilance develop from childhood environments
    • How childhood trauma can create emotional responsibility patterns
    • Why empathy without boundaries becomes emotional exhaustion
    • Why protecting your peace is NOT selfish
    • How faith, wisdom, and nervous system healing work together

Empathy without boundaries often becomes emotional exhaustion.

One of the biggest things God may teach you through healing is this:

👉🏻 You can love people deeply without carrying responsibility for their healing, emotions, or choices.

Sometimes when you begin: 🫶🏻 protecting your peace 🫶🏻 saying no 🫶🏻 creating healthier boundaries 🫶🏻 or stewarding your emotional health differently

…other people may not fully understand it, and sometimes they may even become upset.

But other people’s reactions are not always proof that you are doing something wrong.

Sometimes your growth forces other people to recognize areas where THEY need healing too.

And that has nothing to do with your worth.

    Scriptures Shared:

    Galatians 6:5

“For each one should carry their own load.”

    Matthew 11:28

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.”

    Proverbs 4:23

“Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.”

    2 Timothy 1:7

“For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and love and a sound mind.”

    📝 Homework & Community:

    The “Check What’s Mine” Reset

The next time you feel emotionally overwhelmed around someone, pause and ask yourself:

“What emotions here actually belong to ME?”

Then ask: “Am I supporting this person or am I emotionally carrying them?”

    And remind yourself:

🩷 “I can care deeply without carrying everything.”

If you’ve been feeling emotionally drained lately…

Please know: 👉🏻 You are not too sensitive 👉🏻 You are not selfish for needing boundaries 👉🏻 You are not responsible for carrying everyone emotionally

Healing often means learning the difference between: 🫶🏻 compassion - and - emotional responsibility

And protecting your peace is not selfish.

    It’s stewardship.
