  • Practicing Law in the Wake of a Diagnosis
    Sep 19 2025

Join us to hear Rosalyn Tippett’s compelling and empowering story!

Here’s what she has to say:

I will be speaking about a diagnosis that could have ended a legal career, with lessons learned about humility, resilience, and wellness.

Topics covered include the steps a lawyer can and should take to plan for interruption of business, with the ultimate goal of protecting the client and the client’s interests.

I will discuss ethical questions that arise from trying to practice law when you are physically and/or mentally impaired. The message is to set aside personal pride, take the steps needed to take care of our health, and do what it takes to preserve the client’s interests. A portion of the presentation will address the Texas Bar Associations initiatives and resources available pertaining to designation of emergency attorneys and custodian attorneys, and succession planning.

  • Learn to Work with Your Nervous System for Optimal Lawyering
    Jun 27 2025

Want to build resilience and handle stress more effectively in your legal practice? TLW's one-hour webinar with Christina Loftus (mental health professional and formerly on staff with TLAP) will explore nervous system principles, including Polyvagal Theory, Neuroception, and Window of Tolerance and their practical applications in the legal profession. Nervous system awareness matters in a high-stress profession like law. Lawyers often rely on their intellect; yet our neurophysiological state, often outside conscious awareness, is a key component to lawyer wellbeing. During this webinar, participants will learn to recognize their personal nervous system states (fight, flight, flee or fawn) and learn tips for cultivating a nervous system that is regulated, flexible, and able to respond appropriately to our environment. We will also review how a lawyer's nervous system state can impact clients, co-workers, and others in our lives. With ongoing nervous system "hygiene" lawyers can reduce responses to stress, contribute to a legal environment that feels safer for everyone, and increase productivity and resilience.
