    • Seasonal Cut Flower Varieties: What to Grow, When, Why (and What to Skip)
      Jan 13 2026

Seed catalogs make it too easy to fall for every pretty bloom. We zoom out and show you how to choose cut flowers that truly fit your space, season, and goals—so your garden gives you usable stems, steady color, and fewer disappointments. Joined by Kenley, we break down vase behavior (hello, “dirty” stems), conditioning tricks for sappy flowers, and why some favorites are stunning in the field but disastrous in a mixed bouquet. You’ll hear where single-stem showstoppers shine, when cut-and-come-again workhorses save your schedule, and how harvest windows can make or break your week.

We also get practical about layout and traffic: pairing heights without creating a wall of foliage, avoiding bushy neighbors that tangle and snap, and planning turnover from spring to fall without guilt. Climate reality checks matter—overwintering that “should” work may flop in a cold snap, hoop house or not—and we share how to pivot without feeling like you failed. Safety gets attention, too. We explain why ranunculus has no place on cake, the risks of baby’s breath near food and drink, and how to verify what’s truly edible before you garnish.

Throughout, we map a simple framework: define the job of each plant, pick by productivity and timing, balance faces, fillers, and greens, and order early so the plan drives the purchase. If you crave fast wins, we suggest reliable, forgiving options; if you love specialty blooms, we outline the maintenance trade-offs and vase expectations. Most of all, we want you to enjoy your field—less burnout, more confidence, more time to stand among blooms and breathe. Ready to choose with intention and grow flowers that actually perform? Subscribe, share this episode with a garden friend, and leave a review telling us your most dependable cut flower this season.

    • How Do I Set Goals For My Garden
      Jan 6 2026

If you’ve ever walked out of a garden center with a cart full of pretty plants and no idea where they’ll go, this conversation is your turning point. We break down how simple, clear goals turn scattered beds into a garden that feels cohesive, low stress, and deeply satisfying.

We start with the why: what do you want your space to do for you—cut flowers for the table, a quiet nook to unwind, pollinator habitat, or a yard that asks less every weekend? From there, we translate purpose into practical choices: planning before planting, mapping sun and shade, testing soil, choosing the right amendments, and installing the groundwork that keeps weeds from stealing the show. You’ll hear how thinking across seasons—spring pop, summer stamina, autumn texture, winter structure—creates progression instead of one-hit wonders, and why a few well-chosen evergreens, perennials, shrubs, and annuals can carry beauty all year.

We also get honest about comparison fatigue. Admiring a neighbor’s flawless borders can inspire, but it can also derail. We show you how to anchor decisions in your own time, budget, and microclimate, so each bed has a job and every plant has a place. Expect practical examples: tall bloomers for the back, drought-tolerant workhorses for hot strips, paver prep that keeps crabgrass out, and a lightweight plan you’ll reuse each season. The result is a garden that gives back more than it takes—more color, more calm, more confidence.

Ready to grow with intention instead of impulse? Tap play, then grab our Garden Guide from the link in your app or at Wildly Native Flower Farm to map your goals and build a plan you’ll actually use. If this helped, subscribe, leave a review, and share the episode with a friend who’s one plant away from a cartful.

    • How to Make Changes as a Flower Farm
      Dec 31 2025

The turn of the calendar doesn’t demand reinvention; it invites better rhythm. We’re kicking off a fresh season by trading pressure for practicality and choosing the kinds of small, steady shifts that make farms and creative businesses hum. Think sunflower rotations you can actually maintain, dahlia plans that prevent May meltdowns, and a smarter mix of varieties that reduce waste while boosting joy at the workbench.

We unpack what went right—stellar communication on weddings—and what dragged us down, like starting late after a busted tractor and chasing tasks all season. From there, we map tangible changes: weekly direct-seeding for sunflowers, clearer rotation strategy for dahlias, and ruthless editing of crops that don’t serve our climate or time constraints. Godetia bows out. Campanula stays—with better deer protection. Tulips lose their monopoly as we diversify spring so we’re not knee-deep in mud pulling one-and-done stems.

Boundaries are the backbone of all of this. We talk honestly about saying no to work that doesn’t fit our capacity or brand, and how that single choice opens space for better design, calmer weekends, and more present lives. On the design side, we pass on cookie-cutter network recipes and lean into personal, seasonal arrangements that feel human: unique containers, textures that tell a story, and color choices that match the person on the receiving end. Even holiday volume gets the bespoke treatment, because creativity deserves room to breathe.

If you’re standing on the edge of your own new beginning—farm, studio, or life—you don’t need permission, perfect timing, or a flawless plan. Plant the first seed. Take one honest step, then another when you’re ready. We’ll be here cheering you on. If this conversation speaks to you, follow the show, share it with a friend who needs a nudge, and leave a review so others can find it too.
