The one that puts humanity on trial.

Hello to our listeners, both old and new!

Welcome to Space Crime Continuum, the nonsensical Star Trek podcast that dares to ask the question: “Is this over yet?”

That’s right, we’re back, and we’re shaking things up! Haley and I love many things in the Star Trek universe, but one thing we love more than most is Star Trek: The Next Generation. So, we’re doing something we haven’t done in decades: a full-series rewatch, from the very beginning to the very end. Every episode. Every questionable decision. Every awkward early-season uniform. We’re going all in.

But why stop at just enjoying ourselves? That would be far too easy. Far too pleasant. No, we’ve decided to make things considerably more complicated by adding another thing we love: CRIME! We’re talking courts, punishment, prisons, the justice system, and all the questionable decisions that make for a good discussion.

In this episode, we kick things off with a little chat about jury duty. Have either of us had the honour of serving? What do we think about it? And how long does it take before we wander wildly off-topic? (Spoiler alert: not long.)

So, if you’re into lighthearted Star Trek discussions, true crime, questionable tangents, and two friends who can’t always stay on track, you’ve come to the right place. Join us as we boldly go where absolutely no conversation needs to go.

Follow along!

Thanks for listening, and remember: in space, no one can hear you commit a crime. Probably.

The one with the scantily clad Edo

Welcome back to the podcast friends, Haley and I are back with another episode of Space Crime Continuum, the podcast that does what many have done before and talks Trek. We're so excited to do an episode that features Haley's dream phone caller, Wesley Crusher. This week we take a look at the injustice within the episode from season 1 called Justice. Wesley is busted for being the bad boy we all know he is, but does the punishment fit the crime? Not exactly.

And as we do, we move from the hilarity of season one TNG into a more serious discussion where I share the sad and tragic story of Otto Warmbier.

We hope you enjoy this episode and we hope you all travel safely to Las Vegas for the 60th anniversary of Trek celebration at STLV. Find me on Bluesky @vanislandsara.bsky.social or on instagram @VanislandCrafts

The one where O'Brien suffers again.

Hello, and welcome to another episode of Space Crime Continuum, the Star Trek podcast that asks the question: Do we really need to combine true crime and Star Trek?

This week's episode is a dark one, so listener discretion is advised. We'll be discussing themes of suicide and self-harm.

This week, we're covering the Deep Space Nine episode "Hard Time," where Chief O'Brien is accused of espionage and sentenced to what he believes is 20 years in prison. In reality, only a few hours have passed, but the psychological effects of his imprisonment follow him back to the station, making for one of the series' most intense and emotional stories.

Join Haley and me as we discuss this unforgettable episode alongside the real-life Canadian story of how the prison system failed a young woman.

The one where Tendi's love for ice causes trouble.

Welcome to jury duty listeners, Haley and Sara are finally back with a new episode of Space Crime Continuum, and this time we're animated! That's right, we're having a chat about the Lower Decks season 1 episode... Veritas, a classic Trek trial episode, or is it? Not only that, but on this episode Sara introduces a new segment! Her desperate attempt to lure Haley into watching DS9! season by season I'm asking silly questions and giving an overview of one of the greatest Trek shows.

Not only that but we do our usual chat, the trek purchases i've been making on ebay, what we're eating for dinner (because who doesn't want to know that?) and more! so tune in, zone out and enjoy this episode of Space Crime Continuum. Don't hesitate to follow along for updates on bluesky. VanIslandSara.bsky.social

The one with the he said, she said vibes.

We are back! Welcome to episode 5 of the Space Crime Continuum, the inconsistent semi true-crime Trek podcast that leaves listeners frustrated but amused, or so we hope. This is episode 5 where we discuss TNG Season 3 winner, A Matter of Perspective. A classic he said/she said story where Riker is accused of peacocking, murder, bad pickup lines and just a bunch of bad stuff. But did he do it? Was it the wife? Was it the husband? WAS IT A MALFUNCTIONING DATA? if you don't know, don't worry, we'll walk you through it.
We also catch up on some life, talk a little baseball, discuss a show we love called The Pitt and pose questions to each other on how we'd navigate the hellscape Riker faces. All that and more on this episode of Space Crime Continuum... dun dun.

The one where Kirk gets himself in a bit of trouble

Hello friends and welcome to another traumatizing episode of Space Crime Continuum. What type of real life could mix with that?! What real life crime cases do we have in store? Well there's one you'll definitely know a bit about, because it's constantly in the news...release the files! And we also bring you a true story about a man who faked his own death to hide from the Mafia! All that and more on this episode of Space Crime Continuum.

The one with horrible people doing horrible things

Hello Space Crime enthusiasts and welcome to episode 3 of Space Crime Continuum.

This week Haley and I have a real depressing line up of vile humans to discuss and share with you after we do a breakdown of Star Trek Voyager Episode 18 from Season 4, the Killing Game. Listener discretion is advised for sure.
But that's not all, of course not... because suddenly this podcast is predominately about...Baseball? You know it, it's the world series baby, and of course we got some things to say about it and our Toronto Blue Jays. So tune in and have a listen and stay safe out there!

The one where Kira is constantly looking over her shoulder

Welcome back! Today on Space Crime Continuum we are heading to the space station we all love, Deep Space 9! This is episode 11, season 5, the Lightness and the Dark, where Kira is constantly looking over her shoulder as folks from her past are turning up dead. We follow this episode review with a couple of true crime examples that have similarities, like the Wrath of God story and the Mad Bomber.

Join us as we discuss these stories and go on our usual non-trek related tangents... As we do. Please consider following us on X @spcrcontinuum or follow me (Sara) on Bluesky @vanislandsara.bsky.social
