Slightly Out Of Frame explores the profound connection between the in between and the creative spark. Artists, writers and musicians are essentially translators of the unseen. They are always reaching into the shadows, the quiet thresholds, and the unexplainable to pull out something tangible. This podcast explores how a strange occurrence or an encounter with the liminal actually infiltrates a piece of music, a chapter of a book or a visual artwork.Sylvana Art

  • The Rebel’s Ghost: Cholame, Cursed Artefacts and the Creative Alchemy of the Paranormal
    Oct 10 2026

The shift is open. Pour yourself something warm and dim the lights.

Tonight on an extended personal shift of Slightly Out of Frame, host Sylvana takes a deep dive into an unexplainable fixation carried since childhood: her lifelong love for Hollywood legend James Dean.

We travel from Dean's early life in Fairmount, Indiana, to the wind swept California crossroads in Cholame where his life was tragically cut short at twenty four on September 30, 1955. Sylvana shares her personal pilgrimage to the James Dean Memorial Junction, exploring the chilling urban legends surrounding the crash site, the phantom silver Porsche reported along Route 46, and the notorious string of fatal accidents attached to his cursed car, "The Little Bastard."

Most importantly, Sylvana connects the dots between this childhood fixation, her own unexplainable personal experiences, and how her entire creative engine her liminal photography, visual art and dark fiction writing is fundamentally tied to the paranormal.

Sam’s dark aesthetic has defined the visual landscape of heavy metal and dark pop culture, creating album art and merchandise for legends like Rob Zombie, Iron Maiden, Ministry, Rammstein, Slayer, and Fear Factory. Beyond music, his illustrations have graced the covers of Clive Barker’s Hellraiser, The X-Files, Lovecraftian lore. We also explore Sam’s personal works and his fascination with cryptids.
