The New Adventures of Sherlock Holmes was an exceedingly popular Old-time Radio (OTR) show that aired in the United States, and starred Basil Rathbone and Nigel Bruce from October 1939 to July 1947. In this podcast episode, Dr. Watson tells the story of the Hampstead Heath murders to a live audience at Camp Roberts, and the inspector from Scotland Yard provides details about the case. Unidentified characters, including victims of the murderer, also speak. The story involves a series of murders of young women, and Scotland Yard turns to Sherlock Holmes for help. Dr. Watson and Sherlock Holmes visit a wax museum in search of clues about the murderer and discover that the wax figure of the murderer is missing. They suspect that the owner of the museum, Lavec, may be involved and are confronted by him. They manage to outsmart him and escape, and the episode ends with Holmes admitting that he was unable to recognize the pattern and suggesting that if Watson were to chronicle the story, he should title it "The Education of an Idiot."
