In today’s deeply honest and emotional episode, I’m joined by Nic Phillis, who shares her raw and real journey through pregnancy, motherhood, grief, and healing.

Nic and I have a personal connection — I had the honour of marrying Nic and her husband Craig nearly four years ago — and since then, Nic has become a mum to Lleyton and most recently Billie. In this conversation, Nic opens up about experiences that are rarely spoken about openly, but so deeply felt by many.

  • CALLED OUT! THE Amy. The woman who called me out and inspired me to change!
    Apr 16 2026

Ever wondered who inspired me to start a podcast? An incredible woman named Amy.

In today’s episode, I am incredibly pumped to interview the woman who inspired this podcast and forced a change in me. She is the reason I am no longer judgmental, bitter or a flat-out bitch and she is the woman I owe a massive thanks to for having the guts to call me out on my toxic behaviour!

Amy Johnstone is her name and she sits across from me as we discuss a decade ago when she summoned the courage to tell me that “hanging around me didn't make her a better person” Ouch! It was this defining moment that sent me on a trajectory to become a better human.

    In this episode we cover:

    • The moment she realised she didn't want to be friends with me and decided it was time to call me out on my behaviour.
    • I discuss the impact that this had on me and how it forced me to self reflect on how I had been treating her and other women.
    • We explore her diagnosis of breast cancer and the treatment that followed. We also chat about how it returned and how she chose to have a hysterectomy.
    • Amy opens up about the difficulty in choosing to have a double mastectomy and hysterectomy and how this affected her deeply.
    • We talk about her career as a teacher and why she thinks so many teachers are quitting the profession.
    • We touch on her desire to explore art therapy as a job in the future and she also goes into how she is grateful to have found her voice again and this stage in her mid 40s.
