  • 009 The Art of Reframing - Training Perspective for a Stronger Life
    Jan 6 2026

What if the hardest moments in your life weren’t obstacles, but opportunities to train a stronger perspective?

In this episode, Felicia explores the art of reframing, the skill of consciously shifting how you interpret challenges, responsibilities, and setbacks so they work for you instead of against you.

Drawing from martial arts, neuroscience, personal recovery, and life experience, this episode walks you through how reframing becomes a trainable skill, not positive thinking or denial.

You’ll hear a powerful personal story about where this practice began, why language matters more than we realize, and how small, intentional shifts can change how you experience your life, especially during seasons of transition.

    In This Episode, You’ll Learn:

    * Why reframing isn’t ignoring reality, it’s choosing perspective

    * How “I have to” language quietly creates resistance

    * The science behind gratitude as a practice, not a feeling

    * How habit stacking helps mindset changes stick

    * Why outdated habits may no longer serve who you’re becoming

    * How small actions, repeated daily, reshape identity over time

  • 008: Mastering the Art of Transitions - Small Shifts, Big Impacts
    Dec 29 2025

Transitions are uncomfortable, not because you’re failing, but because you’re shifting.

In this episode of Secrets Beyond the Mat, Felicia Finn explores the power of micro adjustments, the small, intentional shifts that help you stay balanced, grounded, and moving forward during life’s in-between seasons.

Drawing from decades of martial arts training, coaching, and lived experience, Felicia shares how real transformation doesn’t come from forcing change or starting over, but from learning how to adjust when things feel uncertain, awkward, or unstable.

If you’ve been feeling stuck, exhausted, or unsure of your next step, this episode offers a steady, practical perspective rooted in resilience, alignment, and self-trust.

    In This Episode, You’ll Learn:

    • Why pushing harder isn’t always the answer, and what works instead
    • How micro adjustments help you start before you feel “ready”
    • Why transitions feel unstable (and why that doesn’t mean you’re failing)
    • How small shifts build confidence through feedback, not perfection
    • The connection between alignment on the mat and balance in real life
    • How identity is shaped quietly through consistency and adjustment

    Key Takeaway

You don’t need a full reset to move forward. You don’t need to become someone else. You’re often just one small adjustment away from stability, clarity, and momentum.

  • Energy is Life - The Power of Recovery
    Nov 10 2025
Have you ever had one of those moments where life just stops you in your tracks?Mine came sitting in a doctor’s office, unable to open my jaw because of TMJ, when the nurse asked me, “What’s your quality of life?” And honestly… that question broke me.Because the truth was, I wasn’t really living anymore. I was surviving.I had gone from fighting full-contact and hiking mountains to struggling just to get through the day. That question made me realize something huge, that energy isn’t just physical… it’s life itself. And when we lose it, we lose our spark. In this episode, I’m opening up about my own journey through pain, burnout, and rebuilding my energy from the inside out. I’ll share what I’ve learned about stress, recovery, sleep, nutrition, and why slowing down doesn’t mean you’re falling behind, it means you’re coming back stronger. So if you’ve been running on empty, this one’s for you. Let’s talk about how to restore your energy, find your strength again, and start living -really living- from a place of power and purpose.Learn more about my academy → https://rocmartialarts.com/Check out my go-to nutrition support → Deepspectra Phyto Nutrition from Young LivingPart 1 – The Wake-Up CallI’ll never forget the day my body said, “enough.” One sharp painin my knee, and suddenly I couldn’t move like I used to. It wasn’t just physical pain, it was emotional, too. Because for someone who’s always been the strong one, slowing down felt like failure. But, that moment became my wake-up call. Sometimes, your body stops you not to punish you, but to protect you, to get your attention before it’s too late.Part 2 – Stress, Energy, and Why Recovery MattersLet’s talk about stress, the kind that sneaks up on you even when life is “good.” Because here’s the truth: all stress, good or bad, drains your energy. And, when you’re constantly giving, to your job, your family, your students, without refilling your own tank, burnout becomes inevitable. In this part, I share howI learned to protect my energy and why recovery isn’t selfish… it’s survival.Part 3 – Tools & Tracking My BodyWhen my body started sending signals, fatigue, dizziness, little clues that something was off, I started tracking everything. My sleep, heart rate, recovery, stress. And it changed the game. You don’t have to buy every gadget out there; you just have to start paying attention. Because your body whispersbefore it screams, and awareness is how you hear those whispers early enough to make a difference.Part 4 – Sleep as a SuperpowerFor years, I treated sleep like a luxury. Until I learned it’s actuallythe most powerful recovery tool we have. When I battled thyroid issues, I realized my body wasn’t broken, it was asking for help. I talk about how I rebuilt my sleep routine from scratch, what helped me get my energy back, and why deep, consistent rest is the most underrated superpower we all have accessto.Part 5 – Nutrition as Recovery FuelYou’ve heard it before, “you are what you eat.” But I’ll take it further: you are what you absorb. Once I started cleaning up my environment, my food, and my supplements, everything shifted. I swapped processed foods for living ones, chemicals for natural solutions, and I started fueling my body with purpose. That’s when I discovered Deepspectra Phyto Nutrition, andit helped me take my recovery to another level.Learn more → Deepspectra Phyto Nutrition from YoungLivingPart 6 – The Final Takeaway: Energy Is LifeHere’s what I’ve learned after decades of martial arts, full-contact fighting, and navigating my own healing journey: Energy isn’t something you find, it’s something you build. We chase the next hack, the next pre-workout, the next caffeine fix… but true energy comes from honoring your body, giving it rest, nourishment, and stillness. • Embrace the Daring Journey: Risk Takers vs Dreamers
    Feb 9 2024
They called me a dreamer in school, maybe because I thought the word 'impossible' said 'I'm possible,' thanks to Audrey Hepburn. Risk takers, on the other hand, aren't just dreamers; they are doers. Work hard, train hard, and put action to your dreams." Today, I’m not just a dreamer, but a testament to the power of taking risks and turning dreams into reality. I was always a visionary, and a risk taker, I just needed guidance, and training. In a world that often pits risk takers against dreamers, I propose that the true magic happens when these two forces unite. Let's explore the dynamic interplay between risk takers and dreamers and how partnering the two can create extraordinary outcomes. As Audrey Hepburn famously said, "Nothing is impossible, the word itself says 'I'm possible'!" Dreamers are the visionaries, the architects of possibility. They dare to imagine a world beyond the constraints of reality, where innovation flourishes, and the impossible becomes achievable. Dreamers see potential where others see barriers, and their dreams serve as beacons of inspiration for those around them. On the other hand, risk takers are the trailblazers, the adventurers who dare to defy the status quo. They understand that progress requires stepping into the unknown, embracing uncertainty, and confronting fear head-on. Risk takers are not reckless; they are calculated in their approach, weighing the potential rewards against the inherent dangers. Their courage propels them forward, driving innovation and pushing the boundaries of what is possible. But what happens when dreamers and risk takers join forces? It's nothing short of transformative. Dreamers provide the vision, the North Star guiding the way, while risk takers bring the grit, the determination to turn vision into action. Together, they form a symbiotic relationship, each amplifying the strengths of the other. Dreamers inspire risk takers to aim higher, while risk takers empower dreamers to take the leap of faith necessary to bring their visions to life. So, how can we harness the power of both risk taking and dreaming in our own lives? It starts with embracing the journey, recognizing that success is not a destination but a continual evolution. We must dare to dream boldly, to envision a future that transcends the boundaries of our current reality. But we must also be willing to take calculated risks, to venture into uncharted territory with courage and conviction. The world is not divided between risk takers and dreamers; rather, it is enriched when the two combine. Together, we can defy expectations, overcome obstacles, and create a future that surpasses even our wildest dreams. So, I urge you all to embrace the daring journey of risk taking and dreaming, for it is in the pursuit of the impossible that we discover our true potential.
