For Halloween this year, Harrison and EK return to discuss 2019's Pokémon Detective Pikachu through the lens of monster movie. They break down some of the tropes and individual makings of the subgenre to see how not only this film but the franchise as a whole fits into the category. They see what each Pokémon could represent to the characters and story as a hole as well as discuss other genres of media Pokémon takes from. It's the reason for the season, and it's a spooky good time.

Also, if you happen to listen to this episode the week it comes out, the Poole brothers encourage you to vote in your local elections on November 3rd.

Only 10 weeks left for the Poole brothers this year, and for the second half of Harrison's birthday special, he has brought Pokémon Ranger and The Temple of the Sea. It's a film they enjoy but have more critiques of than any other movie in this franchise thusfar. They break down the emotional core, May vs Misty, as well as point out the obvious homage to Miyazaki's The Castle in the Sky. It's a good time as the year begins to draw to a close, though the show is not loosing any steam as Harrison and Ethan watch the same movie every week.

This week, it's the first part of Harrison's birthday special. Just like in July, the Poole brothers have decided to watch another movie in the Pokémon franchise to serve as a companion to 2019's Detective Pikachu. For the first week, Harrison has brought the 2001 movie Pokémon 4Ever, and he and EK dissect the film as it compares to the 2019 masterpiece. This episode also leads to an in-depth discussion on children's media as a whole and the role proper storytelling plays in the impact of a project. It's fairly insightful, even if they are going crazy while watching the same movie every week.
