 Respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) is a common, contagious, and seasonal pathogen with symptoms consistent with an upper respiratory tract infection that include rhinorrhea, pharyngitis, cough, headache, fatigue, and fever. RSV can be dangerous for certain adults, putting them at risk for severe outcomes. Adults at highest risk for severe RSV infection include those 65 years and older, adults with chronic medical conditions such as heart or lung disease, and adults with weakened immune systems.
