      The wide road looks right, feels good, and often seems “successful.” It tells us we’re walking in our purpose, when in reality we’re often walking in our passions—driven by selfishness, envy, ambition, greed, and desires that have nothing to do with what God has called us to be or do. Romans 8:5–7 reminds us that a mind set on the flesh leads to death, while a mind set on the Spirit leads to life and peace.
      The illusion of the wide road is that we can live for ourselves and still arrive at heaven’s gates. But at the end of that path, those who thought they were on their way to glory tragically find the gates of hell instead. This devotional calls us to break that illusion— to let the Holy Spirit expose where we’ve confused our passions with God’s purpose—and to return to the narrow road, where true life, obedience, and God’s eternal purpose await us.
