À propos de ce contenu audio

Entertainment industry veterans and (perfect) comedy duo Ellie Sims and Anneliese Claire proudly present Poppish: a pop culture podcast that will finally cover everything that has ever happened, since everyone else is too afraid.

Each week, comediennes (we’re reclaiming it) Ellie and Anneliese swap one contemporary and one historical story that share a unifying theme, from “famous feuds” to “lost cities.” Have you ever wondered if there was a link between Lady Jane Grey, the 9-day queen, and the Jeremy Renner app? Or if Akon is really going to build a city in Senegal funded by cryptocurrency? Poppish doesn’t have the answers, but it sure does like to ask those questions.

Tune in Tuesdays, and come hungry — we’re cooking.

  • Lemme Get Uhhhh Liberty or Death
    Oct 27 2026

This week, two rousing motivational speeches from problematic men: we explore the origins of Patrick Henry’s revolutionary battle cry, “Give me liberty or give me death!” and Shia LaBeouf’s viral “Just do it” monologue. We get into the contexts in which these quotes came to be, and why we shouldn’t really take advice from these guys anyway,

Plus: a painful day at the office, queening out with your anesthesiologist, and dudes reacting insanely to being emotionally impacted by another man’s words.

  • The Key is to Make It
    Oct 13 2026

When you are traveling towards a set destination, one of the keys is to make it there. No one knows this better than the renowned explorers we introduce you to today: Percy Fawcett and DJ Khaled.

We’ll walk you through the events of their respective journeys through the Amazon Rainforest and the Port of Miami. One is documented only through letter and legend, the other covered live on Snapchat story. We don’t draw any conclusions about the relationship between access to Snapchat and explorer survival, but we’d be remiss not to acknowledge that there does appear to be some connection.

Plus: an abdominal restructuring, being cyberbullied indirectly, and the whimsy of drinking through a straw.

  • New Coke Turns Lemonade into Limes
    Sep 29 2026

Not every product launch can be a success, and no one knows that better than the brands we’re talking about today: Coca-Cola and Snapchat. We discuss the rollout of New Coke and the 2018 Snapchat layout redesign, the public outcry that followed, and the effects on the businesses as a whole.

Sometimes you don’t know what you have til it’s gone, and you have to yell at a corporation until they agree to give it back. But is it too late?

Plus: the arrival of fall and the discourse surrounding a COVID-conscious lesbian bar in western Massachusetts.
