  • Episode 5: Modern ways to practice manual therapy with Roger Kerry et al (2024).
    Jan 7 2026

In this episode I am honoured to be joined by Roger Kerry and some of the team (Dr Vasileios Georgopoulos, Anna Maria Mazzieri and Kenneth Young) who helped publish their 2024 paper on a new/ novel way of teaching and practicing manual therapy techniques.

In the episode we break down how the concept started, how they came together to build a new framework and then built momentum at clinic and university level to be able publish their 2024 paper. The team bring a great wealth of both experience and insight from different professions on how we move forwards with up to date evidence.

I hope you can take something useful away for your practice and that this might just generate a little debate at work and in clinic!

  • Episode 4: Clinicians with injuries: Hip pain in rowing.
    Dec 16 2025

In this episode we're joined by Australian rowing physio Matthew Anthis and fellow clinician, chiropractor Beccy Moneley who kindly gives us some insight into her experience managing her own hip labral pain and post-op rehab whilst trying to row at a high level and manage her career.

We discuss her initial pain onset, clinical signs, early management and how she came to the decision to go for surgery and pick Matt's brains on how he might rehabilitate the same patient. Matt provides great high level insight into managing these often tricky cases with patients who are more often than not, comfortable working into high levels of pain!

The aim is hopefully to bring a different angle to the patient/ clinician experience and gain some insight into how best to manage rowers at high levels and how to get them back on the water as soon as possible!

The paper referenced (Association between hip joint impingement and lumbar disc disease in elite rowers, Wedatilake et al, 2021) can be found with the link below:

    Nov 30 2025

We explore common causes, assessments and rehab outcomes however, the episode ultimately ended up focussing a lot on hamstring management due to the sprinting nature of the sport. • Episode 1. Patient experiences: Lumbar radiculopathy pre and post-op.
    Nov 25 2025

In this episode we interview Rob James Davey who talks us through his severe radiculopathy episode and post-op experience with the help of Stephanie Chapman-Sheath who since qualifying in 1990 has developed wealth of knowledge treating the spine. She was responsible for setting up the Royal Free Hospital Back Pain Clinic in 1996, worked with the London Irish Rugby Football Team for 5 years and has worked extensively as a spinal physiotherapist, involved in research both in the UK and in Australia and has lectured nationally to GPs and physiotherapists on back pain. With Steph's help I hope this episode can help clinicians understand what patients are going through and how to help them make the transition form pre to post spinal surgery.

Rob has signed a consent form prior to joining us for this recording.
