  • From Cancer Conqueror to Cardiac Arrest Survivor: Stephanie Franklin-Suber’s Journey of Surrender & Rebuilding Your Temple God’s Way

    Title:

From Cancer Conqueror to Cardiac Arrest Survivor: Stephanie Franklin-Suber’s Journey ofSurrender & Rebuilding Your Temple God’s Way | Old School Podcast

    Show Notes:

In this powerful episode of Old School, host Michele Vrabel sits down with Stephanie Franklin-Suber — cancer conqueror, cardiac arrest survivor, certified Christian health coach, and founderof Rebuild Your Temple God’s Way.

Stephanie shares her 20-year faith journey that began with a rare, aggressive breast cancerdiagnosis in 2006 at the height of her legal career. Doctors gave her a grim five-year prognosis.Against all medical odds, she is now 20 years cancer-free. But survival was only the beginning. What followed were years of chronic illness, the sudden loss of her sister and brother-in-law, apandemic spiral of emotional eating and hopelessness, and a near-death cardiac arrest in 2025that required 55 minutes of CPR and extensive thoracic surgery.

Through every season, God lovingly redirected her from a life of striving, perfectionism, andpeople-pleasing into one of full surrender — body, soul, and spirit. Stephanie now helps othersrestore their physical health, renew their soul, and realign their spirit through her Triune TempleJourney, modeled after the architecture of the Holy Temple in Jerusalem.

This conversation is raw, faith-filled, and full of hope for anyone walking through prolongedsuffering, slow healing, or the quiet battle of trusting God in the middle — not just for themiracle.

      Key Takeaways

    • Self-care is not selfish — it is stewardship of the temple God has given you. Neglecting itleaves us vulnerable.

    • Trusting God is not trusting Him to do what we want or expect. It is trusting Hischaracter, love, timing, and sovereignty even when healing unfolds slowly.

    • Healing often happens in the middle of the process, not just in the breakthrough moment.

    • Striving, perfectionism, and people-pleasing can look like faithfulness on the outside

while depleting body, soul, and spirit on the inside.

    • God uses seasons of suffering to lovingly redirect us from survival into surrender and

      ultimately into service.

    • We are whole persons — body, soul, and spirit — created in the image of a triune God.

Caring for only one part leaves the others fragmented.

    • Even when healing is slow, God is still faithful. He never leaves or forsakes us.

How to Fix Your Sleep Naturally: The DREAM Framework | Irina Macare Sleep Coach

In this episode of Old School with Michele Vrabel, Michele sits down with certified Sleep Coach Irina Macare to dive deep into holistic, science-backed ways to overcome insomnia, improve sleep quality, boost energy, and reclaim your health — without jumping straight to pills or quick fixes.

Irina shares her powerful personal journey from IT engineer burnout and chronic insomnia to becoming a dedicated sleep coach. Together they explore why understanding the "why" behind sleep matters more than rigid rules, the low-hanging fruit everyone can start today, and Irina's signature **DREAM Framework** — a practical 5-pillar system for better rest.

    🔑 **Key Topics Covered:**

    - Why effort and control actually sabotage sleep (sleep is like a cat — the harder you chase it, the more it runs away)

    - The huge role of light exposure, circadian rhythm, and regularity in modern indoor lifestyles

    - How stress, negative thought loops, and bedtime habits create hyperarousal that blocks rest

    - Low-hanging fruit: Morning light, consistent wake/bed times (even on weekends), and optimizing your sleep environment

    - The DREAM Framework: **D**rive (sleep pressure), **R**hythm (circadian cues), **E**nvironment (light/noise/temp), **A**utomatic habits & loops, **M**ind-body connection & stress management

    - Why sleep doesn't reward effort — and how acceptance changes everything

    - Tools like light therapy glasses, SAD lamps, and apps for jet lag & circadian alignment

    - The myth of the "magic pill" vs. sustainable lifestyle changes (10 miles into the woods = 10 miles back out)

    **Timestamps:**

00:00 – Intro & pronunciation of Irina Macare

00:55 – Michele's holistic health journey & why root causes matter

28:38 – You can't control sleep — but you can control your response & habits

31:16 – "Sleep doesn't reward effort" — surrender vs. forcing it

32:27 – Irina's top nuggets: Get bright light during the day + stick to consistent sleep/wake times
