  • Episode 41 - Great Soundtracks from Bad Movies
    Jul 15 2026

This is a very special episode that the Mikes have been talking about for a while, and as you will hear, may well be Pereira's Area of Expertise: the best movie soundtracks that come from the worst movies. Clark is along for the ride on this one, as his music knowledge is surface level at best, but we deep dive into the influence of some of these soundtracks on the wider music industry, the late 20th century phenomena of the best selling movie soundtrack, and how it is yet another part of the movie business that has largely disappeared. And many tangents throughout, as to be expected.

Clarification: at one point Clark comments about George Lucas' two "best films"; obviously, he meant two best films that Lucas made outside of the original Star Wars. Clark may have some strange opinions, but he's not going to argue that Willow is better than A New Hope. Dark Crystal though...

  • Mid-Credit Minute - 9 Innocent Bystanders Whose Day Was Ruined By James Bond
    Jul 9 2026

Today, Clark closes the loop and reads a listicle he wrote in the early 2010s on a semi-successful blog, which was a thing you could do back then! We present Mid Credit Minute - 9 Innocent Bystanders Whose Day Was Ruined By James Bond.

Audio note, there is a knocking throughout that could not be exorcised in the edit. Apologies in advance.

    Mar 25 2026

In this episode, the Mikes reflect on 2026 kicking our butts with the sudden, unexpected, and heartbreaking loss of three giants of the film industry: Rob Reiner, Catherin O'Hara, and Robert Duvall. We talk about the impact these three careers have had one the two of us, diving into some of our favourite films and performances from their filmographies, and generally pay tribute to titans.

  • Episode 37 - Midtown Radio 2025 Holiday Special
    Feb 4 2026

The Mikes returned home for the holidays! Back in Dec. we joined our old friends at Midtown Radio for their 7th Annual Holiday Variety Show, which was recorded and broadcast live from the AOK Craft Beer + Arcade Bar on a wintery night in Downtown Kitchener.

Our little corner of the show contained a guessing game about holiday releases, and a Hallmark challenge, where we re-wrote the plot of movies like a Hallmark holiday movie and people guessed what movie it was.

We only included our portion of the show, but we highly recommend you check out Midtown Radio for more and seek out the other talented people involved, including poet Chudear Oyual, musician Eric Jackson & Willow River, comedian Renee Groux, and Rad Riot Books Founder Aashay Dalvi!.

    Enjoy!!

  • Episode 36 - The Apes of Wrath!
    Nov 9 2025

This past October renowned primatologist, anthropologist, and animal advocate Jane Goodall passed away at the age of 91. This got us thinking about primates - and of course, more specifically primates in the movies! Of course, in talking about it, we did what every normal person does - we made a bracket!!

We've got your Kongs, your Outbreak monkeys, your Rafikis, your weeping statue of Caesar. All the very normal things that live in our heads rent free! You can check out the bracket, follow along with us, and make your own decisions by clicking here.

  • Mid-Credit Minute - The Give and Take with Scott Williams
    Jul 8 2025

Scott Williams tells us about which films he feels he inherited, and which films he wants to pass on to the next generation (which isn't a Star Trek reference, but after two hours of recording, we finally give in to the pressure and talk Trek for a bit here).

Scott's Double Take from his previous appearance is available in our back catalogue wherever you are listening to this!
