The beginning of Luke 2 discusses Mary's birth of Jesus Christ. This shows the age old tale of how and where Jesus was born in Bethlehem within a manger. The text will discuss the purpose of his birth and why the location of his birth is extremely important. Additionally, the shepherds in the nearby area hear a command from an angel to visit Jesus as he was born the Son of God. This corroborates the story as there are multiple witnesses to Jesus's birth. This sets up the backstory to Jesus that will continue on within Luke in later episodes.
