Season 4 of Knights of the Round Table begins with a welcome back to Pastor Brian Knight—PBK—after his three-month sabbatical. Joe and PBK sit down to talk about where he went, how he spent his time, and what God taught him along the way.

What makes a sabbatical more than a long vacation? Why can rest be so difficult—even for a pastor? And how does a church grow when its shepherd steps away for a season?

From the biblical foundations of rest to the challenges of returning to ministry, this conversation brings it home through Head, Heart, and Hands: understanding God’s design for rest, trusting Him when we stop, and finding practical rhythms of renewal—even when three months off isn’t an option.

Does God's sovereign call make evangelism unnecessary?

In Part 2, JDV and PBK discuss why the doctrine of effective calling should increase, not diminish, our passion for sharing the gospel.
The same God who predestines, calls and saves is the same God who ordains the means for how this happens and we play a direct role.

Election is not a pillow for laziness; it is fuel for prayer and evangelism, because the God who ordains salvation also ordains the means.

Evangelism is the fizz in the soda. Churches that aren't evangelistic become cannibalistic.

The conversation explores evangelism, obedience, our first love for Christ, and the joy of participating in God's saving work.

In this episode of Knights of the Round Table, JDV and PBK discuss the gospel call and effective calling from Grudem’s Systematic Theology. The conversation centers on one of the great questions of salvation: why do some hear the gospel and remain unchanged, while others are brought to Christ?

This episode explores the difference between the outward call of the gospel and the inward, effective call of God, showing that salvation is not merely an offer sinners consider, but a gracious work of God whereby He draws His people to Christ.

Key themes include the gospel call, effectual calling, human responsibility, divine grace, and the comfort believers have in knowing that the God who calls also saves.
