Listen for a deep history of how Black-owned bookstores played a pivotal role in the culmination of the Civil Rights Movement and the subsequent surveillance they endured under COINTELPRO. Learn how Black booksellers were impacted by the recent wave of deadly police violence against Black people and the nationwide protests against it, and how that interest in supporting Black owned businesses has, or has not, sustained.
