**Trigger warning: This episode discusses child abuse, suicide and addiction**
On this episode of Spin Justice, host Hayley sits down with John Wedger, former Met Police detective turned whistleblower, for an unflinching conversation about child protection, institutional cover-up, and what happens to the officers who refuse to look away.
John joined the Met in the early nineties and became a single father of four almost immediately, cycling to work with no money and no sleep.
He moved through uniform, the West End, CID and the River Police before landing in child protection, the one unit nobody wanted and nobody could talk about.
He opens up about tracking offenders along the canals, the drinking that came with carrying it home, the brutal maths of how few victims ever see a conviction, and what it cost him personally when he started speaking publicly about what he had seen.
