Eastbourne’s Regeneration Plan takes centre stage in Episode 2 of We Are Eastbourne, as Dan and Kathryn head to Meads and Hillbrow Health and Wellbeing to capture a live event unveiling how this once‑in‑a‑generation investment is now being turned into real action. Across the town, early projects are already underway, and this episode explores what that looks like in practice and why it’s such an exciting time for Eastbourne.
At the heart of the episode is a major announcement: Eastbourne will be home to a brand new “mini public” – a group of local people chosen to help set the town’s priorities and advise on where funding should go. It is a new idea within the Pride in Place programme and already on the radar of central government, putting Eastbourne at the forefront of community‑led decision making.
You’ll hear from Richard Garland, Chair of the Eastbourne Neighbourhood Board, as he explains what today’s launch means on the ground, the five key themes guiding the work, and early changes such as the town‑wide spring clean, ward workshops and plans for a central support hub.
You’ll also meet Emily May, who introduces the ambitious Beach School concept designed to connect young people with Eastbourne’s coastline, learning and future career routes; Jess Holliday from Eastbourne Foodbank, who talks powerfully about dignity, belonging and building a more joined‑up response to food poverty; and Eastbourne MP Josh Babarinde, who shares why this moment feels different and what early wins residents can expect to see in their neighbourhoods over the coming months.
Whether you’re a lifelong resident or just curious about what this regeneration plan will really mean in everyday life, this episode offers a clear, hopeful look at changes already starting to happen – and how local voices will help shape what comes next.
