  • Wyoming Weather March 5 Morning - Winter Storm Watch
    Mar 5 2026
Good morning. Wyoming. I'm Aaron Jolly. Wyoming's doing that classic split personality thing today. Southeast Wyoming? You're hitting 60 degrees this afternoon. That's nearly 20 degrees warmer than normal for early March. Step outside in Cheyenne right now and you're at 34 degrees under gray skies, but that warmth is coming. In the next 24 hours. Head west toward the Tetons and it's a totally different story. Snow's already falling. Jackson Hole sees a high of just 36 degrees today, with 6 inches piling up by tomorrow morning. The Salt River Range gets hammered too. Travel through there will be slow and slick. Central Wyoming lands in the middle. Casper and Lander climb to 54 degrees by late morning. But here's the catch. Rain and snow mix moves in by 2 P.M., flipping to all snow overnight. One to three inches possible. Now here's where it gets wild. That cold front crashes through tonight like a freight train. Southeast Wyoming drops from 60 degrees this afternoon to 15 degrees by Friday night. Snow develops after 5 P.M. Around Cheyenne and Laramie. One to three inches tonight, another two to four tomorrow. Winds gust to 40 miles an hour Friday, whipping up blowing snow and cutting visibility. I-80 between Cheyenne and Laramie has a Winter Storm Watch in effect. That's not a drive you want to take lightly. Friday feels like January. Highs only hit the low 30s southeast, upper 30s central. Wind chills drop into the teens by morning. But the weekend flips it again. High pressure rolls in Saturday with sunshine and low 40s. Sunday warms to the mid-50s. Monday could touch 60 again. Spring's making another run at us. Just two weeks until the equinox now. Tonight's full moon will shine through breaking clouds by the weekend. Enjoy the show if you get clear skies. For the extended outlook, check the latest forecast as confidence improves. That's your forecast — we'll be back tomorrow.

    Mar 5 2026
Good evening. Wyoming. I'm Aaron Jolly. Step outside right now and you might think spring arrived early. We're sitting at 44 degrees under clear skies. But enjoy it. Because winter is planning a comeback. In the next 24 hours. Tonight brings a full moon to light up those partly cloudy skies. Lows dip to 32 in the southeast, while central Wyoming stays mild at 42 degrees. Out west, snow moves in after 9 P.M. With 1 to 2 inches possible by morning. Thursday starts deceivingly pleasant. Southeast Wyoming surges to 61 degrees — that's nearly 20 degrees above normal for early March. Central areas hit 54. But by late afternoon, the atmosphere flips. Rain develops around 5 P.M. In the southeast. Central Wyoming sees a rain-snow mix by 2 P.M. Western areas stay snowy all day with a high of just 36 degrees. Thursday night into Friday is when things turn messy. A cold front plows through, dropping temperatures fast. That rain in the southeast changes to snow, with 1 to 3 inches possible. Winds howl out of the north at 20 to 30 miles an hour, gusting to 45. Blowing snow becomes a real concern. A Winter Storm Watch is posted for the South Laramie Range, where 4 to 8 inches could fall. Friday stays cold and windy. Highs only reach the low 30s in the southeast, mid-30s central, with lingering snow showers. The weekend brings redemption. Saturday turns sunny with highs in the low 40s. Sunday warms to the low 50s. Monday could hit 62 degrees again in the southeast. We're gaining nearly 3 minutes of daylight each day now. The spring equinox is just 16 days away. Mar 4 2026
Good morning. Wyoming. I'm Aaron Jolly. That dusting of snow yesterday? Already feeling like a distant memory. Step outside this morning and you'll notice something different. The air has actual warmth to it. We're running a solid 10 to 15 degrees above normal for early March. In the next 24 hours. Southeast Wyoming leads the charge today. Cheyenne and Laramie climb to 58 degrees under sunny skies. That southwest breeze around 10 miles an hour makes it feel pleasant by afternoon. Central Wyoming is right behind. Casper hits 57 degrees, but hold onto your hat — gusts reach 35 miles an hour this afternoon. Out west, the Tetons and Jackson stay cooler. Highs near 49 degrees with increasing clouds late. That's your first hint that changes are coming. Tonight, the full moon lights up mostly clear skies across the east. Lows dip to 31 in the southeast, 38 central. But out west. Snow arrives after 11 P.M. That's when the next system takes aim at Wyoming. Thursday starts mild — near 60 degrees in the southeast. Then rain and snow push in after 11 A.M. By Thursday night, everyone sees snow. Southeast Wyoming could pick up 1 to 3 inches. Central areas see 2 to 4 inches with gusty north winds. Friday is the main event. Snow continues statewide. Highs only reach 30 degrees in the southeast. That's a 28-degree drop from today. Winds gust to 40 miles an hour, creating blowing snow concerns. The weekend brings redemption.
