In the hollows of the Ozarks, a crumbling white clapboard meeting hall stands at the end of a gravel road. Luna steps up to the pulpit, dust motes spinning in the bare bulb light, and opens a hymnal whose pages are yellowed and warped, as if soaked through by something other than rain. Each episode of this anthology is a self-contained story drawn from the hymnal's entries — accounts of congregations that held too many closed-door sessions, of hymns that echoed through empty woods long after the last singer left. A deacon's wife who began speaking in languages that predate the church. A Sunday school teacher who found a child's prayer answered in flesh that should have stayed buried. The choir director who could hear the harmonies of the damned. Luna narrates these tales with the same hush she'd use in a confessional, her voice the only sound in the hall save the creak of pews and the whisper of paper. Each visit to the compound peels back another layer of the faith that sustains this place — and the rot beneath the floorboards. Some hymns are sung only once. Some are never finished. Enter the meeting hall. Turn the page. But do not hum along. #OzarkHorror #FolkHorror #ReligiousHorror #CultHorror #AnthologyHorror #RuralHorror #Appalachia #SmallTownHorror #HymnalHorror #MeetingHall #SouthernGothic #SlowBurnHorror #AtmosphericHorror #FexingoHorror #HorrorPodcast #StorytellingHorror #Horror #PodcastHorror Keep every episode free: buymeacoffee.com/fexingo© 2026 Fexingo. • The Candle at Providence Missionary Baptist
    Jul 1 2026
On a September night in 1994, Luna's cousin Marlene drives her out to Providence Missionary Baptist, a tiny white church at the end of a gravel road outside Dutton, Alabama. Marlene has been coming here alone for months—she says the Wednesday night prayer meeting is different. There are no hymns. No sermon. Just a circle of people sitting in the dark with a single candle on the altar. Marlene tells Luna she needs to see it for herself. She needs someone else to witness what happens when the candle goes out. What Luna sees that night is not a revival, not a healing, not a miracle. It's a hunger. And when the last flame dies, the church is not empty. #HymnsFromTheCompound #FexingoHorror #HorrorPodcast #ProvidenceMissionaryBaptist #DuttonAlabama #Candle #PrayerMeeting #1994 #SeptemberNight #GravelRoad #WhiteChurch #CousinMarlene #Darkness #Altar #Hunger #Witness #SmallTownHorror #SouthernGothic Keep every episode free: buymeacoffee.com/fexingo

  • The Guest Book at Twelve Oaks Missionary Baptist Church
    Jun 30 2026
In the summer of 2018, Luna visited Twelve Oaks Missionary Baptist Church, a small white clapboard building tucked off a gravel road in Hardin County, Tennessee. The congregation had faded to a dozen elderly members, and the guest book near the door held names going back to 1947. But some names appeared twice — once in ink, once in a hand nobody recognized. One woman — Evelyn Cross — signed her name every Sunday for three years after she died. The pastor showed Luna the book, pointed to the final entry, and told her something he never told anyone else: the handwriting started changing. This episode is about what Luna saw in that book, what she heard from the pastor, and why she hasn't been back to Hardin County since. It is a story about the dead who don't know they're dead. About the ones who keep showing up because there's no one left to tell them to stop. #FexingoHorror #HorrorPodcast #HymnsFromTheCompound #LunaNarrates #TwelveOaksBaptist #HardinCounty #GuestBook #EvelynCross #DeadWhoKeepComing #RuralChurch #Tennessee #Summer2018 #HandwritingChange #Grief #GhostStory #SouthernGothic #AtmosphericHorror #SlowBurn Keep every episode free: buymeacoffee.com/fexingo

  • The Offering Plate at Salem Primitive Baptist Church
    Jun 29 2026
In the autumn of 1995, outside the dying town of Chance, Kentucky, Salem Primitive Baptist Church held its last service before the building was sold to a developer. Luna's great-aunt had been the caretaker for forty years, and she asked Luna to help clear out the pews before the bulldozers came. The church was already hollowed out — hymnals boxed, the cross removed, even the pump organ carted away. But one thing remained, tucked behind the pulpit: a brass offering plate tarnished nearly black. Luna's aunt told her it hadn't been used since the early 1950s, when a traveling preacher had come through and something had gone wrong during the offering. No one talked about it, but everyone remembered the sound the plate made when the coins fell. Luna walked through the empty building, the plate in her hands, and tried to imagine what could make a whole congregation stop coming to church. This episode is about what happens when a place holds onto something you can't see, and what it feels like to be the one who finally carries it out into the light. #HymnsFromTheCompound #FexingoHorror #HorrorPodcast #SalemPrimitiveBaptist #ChanceKentucky #OfferingPlate #Brass #1995 #Autumn #EmptyChurch #LastService #Memory #Silence #Dread #Unknown #SmallTownHorror #Atmospheric #SoloNarrated Keep every episode free: buymeacoffee.com/fexingo
