In today’s deeply theological conversation, associate professor Kaspars Ozolins explores the meaning and significance of the tetragrammaton: the sacred four-letter name of God, YHWH. Drawing from Exodus 3, biblical theology, and the original Hebrew text, Ozolins explains what God’s self-revealed name teaches about His eternal nature, self-existence, sovereignty, and relationship with His covenant people. The discussion also examines why English Bibles translate God’s name as “LORD,” how the divine name connects to the identity of Jesus in the New Testament, and why understanding God’s name can deepen our worship, strengthen our doctrine, and enrich our reading of Scripture. Whether you’re interested in biblical languages, the doctrine of God, Christian theology, or the deity of Christ, this episode offers profound insights into one of the Bible’s most important and often overlooked subjects.
