    Nel 1992, dopo più di settanta artisti e quasi trecento dischi pubblicati, la Factory Records dichiarava bancarotta. I suoi quattordici anni di vita, caratterizzati dalla gestione passionale ed economicamente scellerata dei suoi soci, hanno scandito una storia in cui convivono gli estremi dell’esperienza umana: il fallimento, l’estasi, la morte, l’edonismo. I suoi album hanno fatto storia, le sue grafiche sono finite nei musei e in passerella; è riuscita a trasformare una cupa città industriale dell’Inghilterra settentrionale nell’Haçienda, la pista da ballo più ambita al mondo. Un glorioso fallimento racconta l’epopea e i protagonisti della Factory spulciando il suo catalogo e immergendosi nella sua estetica, camminando per le strade di quella Manchester che ha influenzato l’etichetta ed è cambiata al suo ritmo.
