What if the word “helper” in Genesis 2 has been giving women the wrong idea about themselves?
We've got another episode of Ask Dr. Cynthia!! In this episode of Bible Study Besties, we’re digging into Genesis 2:17–25 and taking a closer look at the creation of woman. When God says He will make a “helper” for Adam, the Hebrew word ezer doesn’t describe a subordinate assistant or someone standing in the background. It is better understood as a strong ally—one who brings strength, partnership, and essential help.
And that changes the conversation about biblical womanhood.
As we study Genesis 2, we’ll look carefully at the biblical text, the meaning of ezer, God’s design for men and women, and what the creation of woman reveals about her value, strength, purpose, and relationship with man.
So grab your Bible and your colored pencils, Bestie. We’re going back to Genesis to mine the riches of God’s Word—and maybe rethink what it means to be a woman created by God.
