    • Episode 162 - John Cassavetes Retrospective
      Mar 26 2019

      Yo!

Today we're doing a retrospective on John Cassavetes, arguably the father of American Independent Filmmaking. More specifically we're looking at the five of his films that made it into the Criterion Collection and discuss his style, direction, technique and the progression of them.

A fun episode! I had a lot of fun researching Cassavetes despite the fact that his movies were a lot of work to watch.

      Hope you enjoy the episode.

      Cheers!

    • Episode 161 - Turbo Kid
      Mar 19 2019

      Yo!

We're Talking Turbo Kid! Directed by a very talented Trio: Anouk Whissell, François Simard, Yoann-Karl Whissell whose names I definitely butchered in the episode (apologies)

A fun movie that invites cheekiness and celebratory parody to the 80s nostalgia trend we've been noticing as of late. Truly fun filmmaking.

      Synopsis:

In a post-apocalyptic wasteland, an orphaned teen (Munro Chambers) must battle a ruthless warlord (Michael Ironside) to save the girl (Laurence Leboeuf) of his dreams.

    • Episode 160 - Blue Velvet
      Mar 12 2019

      Yo!

Today we're talking about Blue Velvet, In our opinion, David Lynch's most accessible film that still manages to capture that Lynchian spirituality of cinema that eludes a lot of the satisfying explanations that film critics want while talking about his work.

It's exciting and if you haven't watched any of Lynch's work before, a brilliant place to start.

      Hope you enjoy the episode!

      Cheers!
