À propos de ce contenu audio

Welcome to Films Under Discussion, a movie review podcast so named for the trio of FUDs behind the mics.

Long time pals, Des, Paul, and Jack love nothing more than discussing, dissecting and quite often disagreeing about all things cinema. So much so, they started up a film club for friends and family back in 2017; the "Cinematic Understanding N' Talk Society".

Enjoying their own patter so much, and being three lads approaching middle age (some faster than others), they were moved to bring this mature and sensible insight to the masses. Throw in some facts, quizzes and the odd philosophical meander, and you've got Films Under Discussion.

The format is simple, unique and infinitely repeatable...

One of the FUDs picks a theme and a corresponding film to match. The other two follow with their own film choices based on their interpretation of the theme. Then off they go, discussing one film per episode to varying degrees of sense, taste and decency until the theme is resolved.

Then they do it all again as the next FUD in line picks their theme.

  • Female Empowerment Films - The Invisible Man
    Feb 24 2026

Another episode with your favourite fuds! Des has decided to take us out of our comfort zone, and as three white men with a podcast he's challenged us to think about films which have the best examples of female empowerment.

Jack has picked The Invisible Man...Des and Paul really don't like horror films for very different reasons. I wonder if that will come up at all this episode!?

As always prepare for some hot takes, deep film analysis, someone losing the plot, a bit of banter, a few good taglines, an existential crisis question, a wee quiz and our final scores.

  • Female Empowerment Films - Barbie
    Feb 17 2026

New theme day! Des has decided to take us out of our comfort zone, and as three white men with a podcast he's challenged us to think about films which have the best examples of female empowerment.

Des has picked Barbie as our first flick...the question never came up if he played with Barbie's as a kid... the question that did come up however was Jack's new segment... the existential crisis question!

As always prepare for some hot takes, deep film analysis, someone losing the plot, a bit of banter, a few good taglines, an existential crisis question, a wee quiz and our final scores.

  • A Film You Love From A Genre You Hate - Mortal Kombat
    Feb 10 2026

Surprise motherfudder, we have guest themes! We call this "Fud's of Future Past" as all of our partners used to be part of our film club! And they have some ideas for what we should talk about on the podcast...

Des's partner has given us a truly excellent theme. A film we love from a genre we hate. Paul loves video games, Paul hates video game movies. Paul loves Mortal Kombat... but accepts that maybe some heavy nostalgia tinted glasses have influenced this first love!

As always prepare for some hot takes, deep film analysis, someone losing the plot, a bit of banter, a few good taglines, a wee quiz and our final scores.
