106 Cars. Two Judges. One Car Shaped Like a Foot.

In the ‘Murica 454 Episode; Mental finds a large piece of pipe 4 ft down in concrete, Tim is sticky and doesn't know why, Chrissy’s car should yell at deer in the road meanwhile

Chris is trying to figure out why the rear caliper is leaking while nothing is happening. Really Mental and Tim tell us everything that happened at the Buttonwillow race two weeks ago. Here’s a hint- it was face of the sun hot!

A team of rookies showed up at Buttonwillow with an Acura Integra that they had turned into a giant human foot. Veins painted on it. An ankle. Somebody may or may not have drawn a Camel cigarette logo on one of the toenails. We put it in C class and we did not care what was under it.

Episode 454 is the Buttonwillow hangover: our full 24 Hours of Lemons recap from The Butt, two weeks on, now that everyone can form sentences again. 106 cars, 105 degrees, and a judging staff that started as four people and ended up as what Mental generously called a judge and a half.

The driving was bad. Really bad. Bad enough that they ran out of punishments by Saturday afternoon and started recycling them. Bad enough that Tom Webb called a mandatory Sunday morning driver's meeting, and made everyone meet at the one place on the property they'd been failing to use correctly all weekend.

    It didn't help.

The people, though, were tremendous. They always are.

    WHAT HAPPENED AT THE BUTT

Wrong-hole-itis: teams entering and exiting the track through whatever gap they liked

Four separate teams, many of them engineers, defeated by one children's jigsaw puzzle

A rookie team raising money for a dog rescue who spent a 100-degree weekend in full black ninja costumes selling fresh fruit cups. Sorry for Party felt, well, sorry and eventually gave them an EZ-up out of pity.

Tim's cool shirt failed three different ways in one stint: iced with no water, then a fitting that blew off and hosed him down, then a box nobody strapped in

The LA firefighters put on full turnout gear in 105 degrees to do a demo, then cut a car apart with the jaws of life

Sunday morning: a car shaped like a foot parked next to a car shaped like a wiener, as a visual aid

    AWARDS

Dual Heroic Fix: a rookie Mini team who discovered the previous owner installed the clutch backwards, fixed it off YouTube overnight — and 30 college kids who blew up their Accord and got it back on the track Sunday to cheers

I Got Screwed: a cone kicked up by another car shattered a windshield in the driver's line of sight while they were leading C

Organizer's Choice: the foot. The judging notes read, in full, "it's a foot."

IOE: a bone stock Iron Duke S10 that had a transmission driven in from Los Angeles overnight

  • We Held a Séance With Our Range Rover It Didn't Help.
    Oct 1 2026

We Held a Séance With Our Range Rover It Didn't Help.

On the second night of the Colorado Lemons Rally, we put a lit candelabra on the hood of a Range Rover & held a séance to ask the ghosts of the founders of the Rover Group why it was leaking coolant. They were unhelpful. The wax is still on the hood.

In this BMW M1 episode 453, Mental has a dusty butt, Eric makes cat/supercharger noises, Chrissy types feverishly & Chris didn’t go to public school

Really, we talk all about our experience on the 2026 Lemons Rally Colorado Breakdown with our 2008 Range Rover & 1993 Volvo 945 turbo.

Episode 453 is the full 24 Hours of Lemons Colorado Rally recap. Three days, eighteen cars, Denver to Craig to Grand Junction & back, with Eric Kritzler — DJ 914 — sitting in for Tim, who was busy getting sunburned at Buttonwillow. Our theme was The Coastal Elite: popped collars, boat shoes, a top hat, enormous diamond earrings, a sweater draped over the shoulders, a pocket full of fake hundred dollar bills, & three days of calling each other "my good man."

Two cars, both bought on a whim: an 18-year-old Range Rover on its fifth owner, & a 1993 Volvo 940 Turbo wagon that Eric won at auction from 1,200 miles away. The seller left the keys under the mat & wasn't there. Eric drove it 700 miles to Colorado with no working radio, in total silence, & called it cathartic.

    WHAT HAPPENED OUT THERE

At the Stanley Hotel the challenge was to recreate a scene from The Shining. Nobody planned for Chrissy to be the star. Chrissy became the star. "Here's Chrissy."

We left a note on the Range Rover's dash: the car is not broken, we'll be right back

Lunch beside a river on actual china, with a tablecloth & a candelabra, eating grocery store shrimp

A man walked up to our car in the middle of a nice town & simply got in. We took him to our Airbnb.

Handing out fake $100 bills, including to a gas station clerk who told her entire staff she'd gotten a hundred dollar tip

The awards, including a 1957 International race truck with a Volvo five-cylinder, Crown Vic suspension, no windows, & a full Austin Powers costume in the heat

    ALSO IN THIS EPISODE

Lemons is racing Laguna Seca, & the 45-car field was picked by writing team names on 10mm sockets & fishing them out of a pan of used oil by hand

A Stellantis patent for an EV that ejects its own burning battery pack & drives away from it

The Batman Returns Batmobile heads to auction at $5-7 million. It's two Impala chassis welded together under hand-laid fiberglass. That's a Lemons build.

  • 80% of Crashes Happen at This Buttonwillow Corner.
    Sep 24 2026

Eighty percent of the incidents at Buttonwillow happen at one corner. It's a slight rise, the curve keeps going as you climb it, and there's a flag station at the top holding all the information about whatever tragedy is waiting on the other side. It's called Phil Hill. Don't be a statistic on it.

Episode 452 is a big one: our full 24 Hours of Lemons Buttonwillow preview, yes, The Butt, plus the results from NCM and everything you need for the Colorado Lemons Rally. In this old Russian Van Episode 452; Chris double twangs ratchet straps

Chrissy requires you to bring something other than grapes to the rally dinner

Tim aka, Ol’ asbestos balls, is at it again while Accu-Mental warns you of the weather at Buttonwillow raceway, AKA The Butt.

106 cars are entered at Buttonwillow this weekend. Tim is racing it, Mental is judging it, and we walk all 13 turns of the clockwise layout; Sunrise, Off Ramp, Cotton Corners, Grapevine, Club Corner, Bus Stop, Truck Stop, Riverside, Phil Hill, Sweeper, Star Mazda, the Esses and Sunset. Also with the schedule, the gate fee nobody expects, and the Accu-Mental Forecast. Short version on the weather: 99 on Thursday, and no, you do not want that rain you're wishing for. It turns the place into peanut butter and adds thirty pounds to your car.

Meanwhile Chris and Chrissy are hosting AND running the Colorado Lemons Rally, which launches from their driveway. There is a five-foot hole in the yard. There is caution tape. We are all a little worried.

    FROM NCM (BOWLING GREEN, KY)

Team Non Sequitur took the overall lead with under 15 minutes left

Mom's Friendly Racing Company was 8th overall with 15 minutes to go, blew up, and finished the race on jack stands leaking into a drip pan. We made them push it to the awards ceremony and keep leaking in front of everybody.

Heroic Fix: a dad drove 600 miles home to Alabama for a charge pipe. He left his son at the track.

A team climbed a barbed-wire fence at 5:30 in the morning to retrieve another team's forgotten tires

IOE: drag racers who'd never turned left or right showed up with a fist-sized hole in the bell housing patched with wire mesh and JB Weld. They ran 230+ laps.

97 degrees and humid, the most fueling issues anyone could remember at a Lemons race

    ALSO IN THIS EPISODE

A 50th-annual figure-8 championship that ended in two felony counts.

A Waymo that spent ten minutes afraid of a puddle, and another that drove through a farmers market.

A Jeep that lost its axle brackets in Moab and got ratchet-strap fixed to drive 150 miles home

Tim's clutch disintegrated into itchy fuzz, and the internet had thoughts

    Remembering Lemons staffer Rob Anders
