Something happened to me recently that I have not been able to stop thinking about.

My husband and I were in Fort Worth for my son's girlfriend's 21st birthday. We had already done a ton of stuff and just wanted a day by the pool. Standing at the elevator in my swimsuit four women walked past and made a comment loud enough for me to hear. Something dismissive. Something unkind. And they laughed.

And I stood there and felt something I did not expect to feel at 47 years old.

In this episode I talk about why that moment hit me harder than it should have. About a little girl who was called Dumbo because her ears stuck out. About the things we pack away and tell ourselves do not matter anymore. And about how sometimes the moments that bother us most are not really about the moment we are in.

But more than that I talk about us. Women. And how we treat each other.

We are not in competition. We never were. What women go through connects us in ways nothing else does. Our bodies. Our hormones. Having babies. Becoming empty nesters. The invisible weight we carry every single day. That is supposed to pull us together not push us apart.

I also talk about where this show is going. The community I am building here. The risk takers and the women who rose from the ashes and the ones who went against everything they were told was possible and built something real. I want those stories in this space.
