Welcome to Deconstructing — a podcast series where we question, explore and unpack the ideas, beliefs and systems that shape the world we live in. Through personal experiences, current affairs, religion, spirituality, culture and philosophy, this series explores the deeper meanings behind the events, traditions and narratives that influence humanity. The goal is not simply to challenge ideas, but to understand them — breaking down assumptions, exploring different perspectives and searching for the lessons that can help us grow.© 2026 Deconstructing Sciences sociales

    # Episode 2: Deconstructing — Who Told You Who You Are?

In Episode 2 of Deconstructing, we turn the questions inward.

Who told you who you are? Before you had the ability to question the world around you, beliefs, values and expectations were already being passed down to you. Through family, religion, culture, education, media and society, we are constantly being shaped by ideas that can become so deeply ingrained that we rarely stop to ask where they came from.

We dive into the idea of social constructs and the systems that influence how we understand identity, success, relationships, gender, race, class and even what we consider to be “normal.” How much of who we are is genuinely chosen, and how much is the result of the environment and structures we were born into?

We also explore the role of religion and religious conditioning. For many people, religion is introduced long before they are old enough to critically examine its teachings. Beliefs can become intertwined with family, culture, morality and identity — making the act of questioning them feel like rebellion, betrayal or even fear. But what happens when you begin asking whether your beliefs are truly your own?

Through personal experiences, honest conversations and critical reflection, we explore the tension between conditioning and free will. Can we ever fully separate ourselves from the programming we've inherited? And if we begin stripping away the labels, beliefs and expectations placed upon us, who are we underneath it all?

This episode is not about attacking religion, culture or identity. It is about examining them.

Because questioning where your beliefs come from does not automatically mean rejecting them. Sometimes questioning something allows you to understand it more deeply. Other times, it reveals that you have been carrying beliefs that were never truly yours.

Before you can decide who you want to become, you may first have to ask:

Who told you who you were?

  • Episode 1: Question Everything
    Jul 9 2026

In the first episode of Deconstructing, we begin by challenging the foundations of the world we live in.

Why do we believe what we believe?

Who shaped our understanding of reality?

And how much of our identity, culture and values are truly our own?

We explore the role of religion, culture and capitalism in shaping human behaviour, society and the way we view success, purpose and meaning. From the traditions passed down through generations to the systems that influence how we work, consume and live — we question whether these structures are helping us evolve or keeping us trapped in cycles we rarely examine.

Through personal experiences, observations and honest reflection, this episode explores the journey of understanding ourselves within a complicated world. The struggles we face, the beliefs we inherit and the search for something deeper than what we are simply told to accept. We also dive into ancient forms of knowledge, including astrology and occult traditions, exploring how people throughout history have used symbolism, planetary movements and patterns to interpret human behaviour, cycles of change and potential future events. Whether viewed as spiritual wisdom, psychological insight or a tool for reflection, these systems have played a role in how humanity has attempted to understand the unknown.

This episode is not about telling you what to believe. It is about encouraging you to think deeper, question more and explore perspectives beyond the surface.

Because the first step towards changing the world is understanding the world we live in.

Question everything. Challenge the narrative. Find your truth.
