Sermon preached on October 25, 2026 at The Salvation Army Augusta Kroc Center by Major Jonathan Raymer

Matthew 9:27–34 contains multiple miracles—but beneath the physical healings is a powerful lesson about spiritual sight.

Major Jonathan Raymer, along with Lieutenants Amanda and Daniel Jones, explores the contrast between blind men who recognized Jesus and religious leaders who witnessed His miracles yet refused to see who He really was.

This episode challenges us to examine our own pride, fear, dependence on the Holy Spirit, and willingness to boldly live out our faith.

The greatest blindness isn't always physical. Sometimes it's refusing to see what God has placed right in front of us.

Sermon preached on October 11, 2026 at The Salvation Army Augusta Kroc Center of Augusta by Lt. Jamie Dupree

In this episode of CrossTalk at the Kroc, host Major Jonathan Raymer welcomes returning guest Ken Argot for a thoughtful discussion of Mark 9:14-29, the account of Jesus healing a boy possessed by an evil spirit.

Together, they explore the dramatic contrast between the mountaintop experience of the Transfiguration and the chaos waiting below, highlighting how spiritual highs are often followed by the realities and challenges of everyday life.

Jonathan and Ken examine the disciples' inability to heal the boy, the desperation of a father seeking help for his son, and Jesus' response to a generation struggling with faith. The conversation centers on one of the most honest statements in Scripture: "I do believe; help me overcome my unbelief."

They discuss how faith and doubt often coexist, especially in seasons of pain, disappointment, trauma, and unanswered questions. Through personal reflections and ministry experiences, they show how God meets people not in their perfection, but in their sincere dependence upon Him.

The episode concludes with a powerful look at Jesus' authority over evil, the importance of prayer as a relationship with God rather than a ritual, and the danger of relying on our own abilities instead of the Holy Spirit. Listeners are encouraged to move beyond performance, self-reliance, and comparison, and instead embrace a deeper relationship with Christ, trusting His power to work through both their strengths and weaknesses.

Loving Difficult People

The Gospel of John doesn't ease into the question. It starts at the very beginning: “In the beginning was the Word.”

In this episode of CrossTalk at the Kroc, Major Jonathan Raymer sits down with Lt. Sam Mhasvi to explore the opening words of John's Gospel and what they reveal about the identity of Jesus. From the connection between John 1 and Genesis 1 to Jesus as the Word, Creator, Life, and Light, this conversation takes a deeper look at the divine nature of Christ and why John begins his Gospel this way.

The conversation also explores John the Baptist's example of humility—recognizing that he wasn't the Light, but was called to point others toward the Light. From there, the discussion moves into one of the most powerful promises in the passage: those who receive and believe in Jesus are given the right to become children of God.

John 1 ultimately points us toward the heart of the Gospel: Jesus came into the world, even when the world did not recognize Him, and through Him we can be brought back into relationship with God.Grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.

Join Major Jonathan Raymer and Lt. Sam Mhasvi for a conversation about the identity of Jesus, the Light that shines in the darkness, the humility of pointing others to Christ, and what it means to become a child of God—where faith meets real life.
