  • Episode 217 - Ranchman's Wendy Daniels
    Jun 24 2026
For nearly 40 years, Wendy Daniel has been one of the most influential figures behind the scenes of Alberta's country music industry. As the longtime Director of Marketing & Entertainment at Ranchman's, she's helped shape careers, launch artists, and build Ranchman's into the legendary venue known across North America as Canada's Greatest Honky Tonk.

In this episode of Cowboy Sh!t, Wendy shares stories from almost four decades at the heart of Calgary's western and country music scene. From the early days of Ranchman's and the artists who got their start on its stage, to the challenges of navigating closures, ownership changes, and preserving the soul of an iconic western institution, Wendy has seen it all.

We talk about her recent induction into the Country Music Alberta Hall of Fame, the honour of having the Wendy Daniels Stage named after her, and what it takes to build a lasting legacy in the music business. Wendy also gives us an inside look at one of the biggest transitions in Ranchman's history as the legendary Macleod Trail location prepares for its final chapter before moving into its brand-new home at Ranchman's Village in 2027.

This episode is proudly sponsored by Ranchman's. As Ranchman's prepares for its next chapter and a new home in 2027, its commitment to western heritage, live music, and the cowboy way of life remains stronger than ever. We hope you enjoy the episode.

Caitlyn Stenberg is widely considered their "rodeo mom” — a title she’s earned through years of supporting athletes, building community, and giving back to the sport she loves. We also discuss this year’s Caitlyn Crusaders Bronc Match, taking place June 19 in Pilot Butte, and why this event has become such an important cause for so many people.
