  • Reset Your Diabetes Mindset for 2026
    Dec 18 2025

Saying “I’ll get on top of my diabetes in 2026” is easy. But making the goal stick past Feb is tough.

In this episode (a re-release from last Jan), Tracy and I sit down with behavioural strategist Tereeza Ballantine to break down how to set diabetes goals that actually work — without perfectionism, guilt, or burnout. This isn’t fluffy stuff. It’s practical tools, neuroscience-backed insights, and a kinder way to work with your brain (even when it’s being unhelpful).

    We talk about:

    • How to turn vague goals into achievable action plans
    • Why motivation disappears — and what to do when it does
    • How to quiet your nasty inner critic
    • The difference between a fixed mindset and a growth mindset

Plus, Cait's plan to reverse a real-life diabetes complication (without freaking out or giving up).

Need a gentle nudge in the right direction for 2026? Here it is! ✨

  • Food Stress & Body Image with Diabetes: The Struggle Is Real
    Nov 20 2025

Many diabetics have a complicated relationship with food and their bodies. We’re trained to obsess over carbs, weight, and exercise—while dealing with a tricky metabolism and the occasional 2am hypo-fueled fridge raid.

It’s no wonder unhelpful thoughts and habits can creep in and leave us miserable.

In this episode, Cait and Tracy speak to Sarah Lam, a diabetes psychologist with 30+ years of experience. We cover:

    • The most common food and body struggles people with diabetes face
    • Cait and Tracy’s own stories with binge eating and negative self-talk.
    • Why diabetes increases the risk of eating disorders.
    • Practical strategies for breaking these patterns.
    • How to find professional help from someone who "gets it".

  • High Carb Eating for Diabetes with Robby Barbaro
    Sep 25 2025

You've probably heard that carbs are the enemy. And it makes sense. A carb-free meal can make for nice, steady post-meal glucose levels. But what if there's another way?

New York Times bestselling author and type 1 diabetic Robby Barbaro has pioneered a diet that aims to increase insulin sensitivity and reduce long-term health issues for all kinds of diabetes and prediabetes with a vegan, low-fat, high-carb approach.

His stats say it all: 90% time in range and an insulin to carb ratio of 75:1. That's just 1 unit of insulin for 75g of carbs or around 4 bananas!!! The standard dose is 10:1. Plus, he's a three time Ironman.

In this episode, we speak to Robby about:

    • Why insulin sensitivity matters.
    • How dietary fat impacts insulin needs.
    • What a health, high-carb diet looks like.
    • Insulin timing, slower eating, and other tips for glucose management.
    • Risks and challenges when transitioning to this diet.
