Storms will come—even when we’re walking faithfully with Jesus. In this week's passage, the disciples learn that trusting Christ means believing He is Lord not only over their daily needs, but also over every fear, uncertainty, and overwhelming circumstance. Whatever storm you’re facing today, remember: the same Jesus who calmed the sea is the same God we worship today. In the midst of the storms and swells of the Christian life, we can rest knowing that Jesus is still in control and worthy of our trust!

Following Jesus is the greatest decision we can ever make, but it’s not the easiest one. In Matthew 8:18–22, Jesus reminds us that true discipleship requires surrender, obedience, and putting Him above the things that compete for our allegiance. Despite the hardships, we can rest knowing that whatever we give up for Christ is nothing compared to what we gain in Him. Jesus didn’t avoid the broken, the unclean, or the overlooked—He moved toward them with compassion and authority. In Matthew 8, we see a Savior who not only has the power to heal, but the willingness to draw near to people in their deepest need.
