This week on Come, Follow Me Moms, we are studying the beautiful book of Psalms—and this one is all about learning to bring our whole heart to God.

The Psalms give words to so many parts of our lives: praise, fear, heartbreak, repentance, gratitude, questions, joy, and trust. They remind us that we can love God and still have questions. We can have faith and still cry. We can walk through hard things and still trust that the Shepherd is walking beside us.

In this episode, we're talking about:

• “The Lord is my shepherd” and what it really means to trust God when we don't know where the road is leading.

• Why we don't need the whole map when we know the Shepherd.

• Psalm 8 and the incredible truth that the God who created the heavens is still mindful of YOU.

• Psalm 19:1 and noticing God's goodness and creation all around us.

• Why “How Great Thou Art” connects so beautifully with this week's study.

• Looking backward and recognizing God's timing line upon line.

• Comparison and remembering that there is room in God's house for all of us.

• Bringing our broken hearts to God instead of trying to carry everything ourselves.

• “Weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning.”

• Psalm 46:10 — “Be still, and know that I am God.” What does stillness look like in the middle of busy motherhood?

• Psalm 24:3–4 — clean hands and a pure heart.

• Elder David A. Bednar's message “Clean Hands and a Pure Heart” and how Jesus Christ doesn't just change our behavior—He changes our hearts.

• The beautiful example of Elder Bednar's mother making scripture come alive for him as a child—and why our efforts to teach our children about Jesus matter, even when we aren't sure they're listening.

• Brother Bradley R. Wilcox's message “Worthiness Is Not Flawlessness.”

• Why God's love for us and His desire for us to change can exist at the same time.

• Repentance as a lifelong process of becoming more like Jesus Christ.

• The sacrament as a spiritual “gas station” where we can repent, renew our covenants, refill, and keep going.

One of my favorite reminders from this week's study is:

The goal isn't to never stumble. The goal is to keep following the Shepherd.

Sometimes we follow beautifully. Sometimes slowly. Sometimes confidently. Sometimes crying. And sometimes we wander and need Him to come find us.

But we keep coming back.

Choose one Psalm that speaks to where you are right now and put it somewhere you'll see it this week.

Maybe:

“The Lord is my shepherd.” — Psalm 23:1

“The Lord is my light.” — Psalm 27:1

“Joy cometh in the morning.” — Psalm 30:5

“Be still, and know that I am God.” — Psalm 46:10

Then choose a hymn connected to Psalms and play it in your home. Tell your children why you love it and what it teaches you about Jesus Christ.

Let's make the scriptures come alive for our children.

Because someday they may remember:

Why do bad things happen to good people? Where is God when life falls apart? And can we still trust Him when we don't understand what He is doing?

This week on Come, Follow Me Moms, we're diving into the story of Job—and this one is for anyone who has ever found themselves asking God, “Why?”

Job was a righteous man who loved God, and yet he experienced unimaginable loss. He lost his wealth, his health, and most devastatingly, his children. His friends misunderstood him. He questioned. He grieved. He wondered where God was.

And yet, in the middle of his suffering—not after everything was fixed—Job declared:

“Though he slay me, yet will I trust in him.” — Job 13:15

And:

“I know that my redeemer liveth.” — Job 19:25

That is what we're talking about this week.

We'll dig into what Job's story teaches us about trusting God when life doesn't make sense, asking God the hard questions, sitting with people in their grief instead of trying to explain it, and recognizing that suffering does not mean God has abandoned us.

We'll also talk about Elder Joseph B. Wirthlin's message “Come What May, and Love It” and what it means to keep choosing God through the unexpected, painful, and difficult parts of mortality.

• A simple overview of the story of Job
• Why bad things can happen to good people
• Why hardship isn't always punishment
• What Job's friends teach us about supporting someone who is hurting
• Why it's okay to ask God hard questions
• “I know that my Redeemer liveth”
• “When he hath tried me, I shall come forth as gold”
• Trusting God before you know how the story ends
• What happens when God finally answers Job
• Looking back and asking, “Where was God in my story?”
• Inviting the Lord into the chapters of our lives we never would have chosen

One of my biggest takeaways this week is this:

You don't have to know WHY when you know WHO.

You may not understand this chapter of your life. You may still be waiting for an answer. You may be living through something you never would have chosen.

But you can still know your Redeemer.

You can still bring God your questions.

You can still say, “Heavenly Father, I am trying.”

And you can trust that your suffering does not get the final word.

Because of Jesus Christ, God does.

🩷 Question to ponder this week: Think of one chapter of your life you would never choose to relive. Where was God in that story?

And then ask yourself:

Where might He be in the story you're living right now—even if you can't see Him yet?
