So many killer songs and as we enter a new year that has so many band hitting the road for 50th anniversary tours, I'm thrilled that 38 Special is one of them. I caught up with my old friend, 38 Special founder Don Barnes to talk about that magic catalog of tunes, advice he got from Ronnie Van Zant of Lynyrd Skynyrd, his songwriting heroes, and the "MUSCLE and MELODY" that sustains a band for 50 years. AND the band has a new release to celebrate their 50th called- "MILESTONE" - and Don opens up about crafting their first new record in 20 years. Always a bright light to spend time with Don Barnes.

Matt Cullen morphed into Zero 9:36 after being inspired to create music. And create he has. I had a blast getting to know Zero and catch up with him live from the road just before he dropped his new album- "They Were Always Here" - which he describes as a "mixtape of the sounds I love".

Cory Marks is such a unique artist who combines the songwriting sensibility of country with the loud guitars of rock and metal and the Canadian hit making of Bryan Adams, I first met Cory and saw him live a few years back and was not disappointed. Bella Perron is a fantastic young guitar player who many know from her time with the all female rock band PLUSH, and her current band The Midnight Cowgirls. Bella is branching out and crafting instrumental rockers and in this episode, she discusses reinventing her sound, feel and not being afraid to jump in and take a chance. We also discuss her new songs "Enlighten" and "Mirrors" and how being an instrumental performer differs than being a band member. Super talented young player and super inspiring for the new generation of rockers for sure.
