  • Marriage, Divorce, and Your Real Estate- With Ted Finn
    Nov 16 2022

In this episode, I sat down to chat with Ted Finn a local divorce attorney about protecting your personal and marital property before, during, and even after marriage.

In his many years of practicing the law, Ted has seen just about every situation that arises in marriage around money and assets.    During our chat Ted explained, "if one person or the other wants to stay in the house, or if it was a property that was brought into the marriage, if it was a separate property that came by gift or inheritance, then we have to be thoughtful and mindful as we go through all of this and saying, Okay, how do we title things on the front end? If you're talking about pre-dissolution planning or even pre-marriage planning, you talked about do we keep separate app assets separate. is the application of a prenuptial agreement, something that we should be discussing? And is it something that can be done in Colorado? It can, but it requires some forethought. One of the things they talked about Colorado is that if you're doing it on the eve of marriage, it's likely not going to be enforceable."

Do you have questions about your property inside of a marriage or divorce?  Contact Ted at  303-776-5380 to set up a personal meeting.

  • How to Purchase Real Estate in an Inflationary Market
    Sep 30 2022

In this episode, I share my thoughts on the importance of not being paralyzed by fear in the face of a challenging housing market, and some practical tips on how to approach an inflationary market with caution and still make a return on your investment.

You hear much in the media these days about the housing crisis and how inflation only makes things worse. While that is partly true, history and my personal experience tell me things aren't as doom and gloom as the media would have us believe.

In fact, historically during a recessionary period rates for housing tend to drop thus reducing some barriers to purchasing a new home and making it possible to refinance the real estate you already own.

  • Don't Panic! The Finances Work Themselves Out-With Dan Grote
    Jun 23 2022

In this week's episode of Bill the Lender Podcast, I had a conversation with my friend Dan Grote, a financial advisor with latitude Financial Group, about the volatility of the market and how to create a balanced portfolio. Why do all types of investors need financial advice and the inflation-busting benefits of holding real estate inside your portfolio?

When talking on the subject of volatility Dan mused, "So I do think trying to keep our feet underneath us and keep our heads about us is important. And that that that does tap into that behavioral side of things, too. So that would be number one...don't panic, don't panic, it's the worst time to get off a roller coaster is in the middle of the ride. Ah, yes so don't don't panic."
