Around the Table is a place to understand and appreciate others more by hearing, from real people, the real stories that have shaped us, our convictions and our decisions. I pray this stirs up a desire in others to examine and appreciate their own stories as well.Copyright 2024 All rights reserved. Sciences sociales Spiritualité

      Episode 25 - Overcoming Defeat

The difference between those who give up and those who overcome often comes down to the community we have. Or don’t. We take pride in “doing it myself”, and yet what if our best achievements come by doing it with a team? The right team, of course. Not just any team. A supporting cast, if you will. After all, every great story has a great supporting cast. Doing things in community provides perspective, many of which we don’t see on our own. Different perspectives broaden our scope and help us see a bigger picture rather than the one we are stuck in. Who is your community? Your supporting cast? And are they who you need? How do you even know what you need?

Join us for this episode and discover:

      • The Myth of the Lone Wolf
      • The Isolation Cycle
      • Characteristics of a Healthy Community

Join me Around the Table as we talk about the need to align, or possibly realign, with the right people God has for you in this season.

      Jul 3 2025

Episode24 - DON’T GIVE UP! With guest Jonah Brian Cruz Melchor

In the last episode we talked about brokenness, but in today’s episode we take a personal look into the life of a man who knew nothing but brokenness throughout his childhood and even in to much of his adulthood. Jonah Brian Cruz Melchor shares some of his healing journey, past and present, and how he is learning something we all need to learn: to heal, we must learn to trust. And when trusting seems impossible, know that possibility lies in the courage to embrace different. Different steps. Different ways. Including the courage to be seen, heard, and known for what truly are. In this episode we talk about:

      • Effects of brokenness
      • How brokenness fuels
      • Steps to heal

We need community to heal. Safe, trustworthy community. The kind we can create around the table. The kind that sees us. Hears us. And loves us anyway. The kind where we see others. Hear others. And love them anyway. I welcome you to join me Around the Table Today with my guest Jonah Brian Cruz Melchor, a fighter who has learned to fight differently, and my very dear friend.

      Jun 19 2025

Episode 23 - Brokenness and Tables

Brokenness is a big topic. There is personal brokenness and relational brokenness all the way up to world brokenness. But it starts in the heart. Of each person. Why is our world so broken? Because people are so broken. And people are broken mainly because of receiving what God never intended them to have, or not receiving what He did intend them to have. What do Tables have to do with brokenness? Tables are a place of provision for the healing needed in our hearts. Tables represent acceptance, relationships, and trust. They Represent a community of people who have chosen to share some of their life with one another. The good, the bad, and the ugly. And love each other anyway. We need tables to heal. We need community to heal. None of us heal in a silo.

In today’s episode, we talk about:

      • How neglecting simplicity has complicated issues
      • One of the simplest answer to more complex problems
      • A challenge that requires courage for a simple act of transformation

I welcome you to join me Around the Table today as we look at what has led to much of our brokenness... and one of God’s best ways for us all to heal.
