🚨 DOES AUTHORITARIANISM BECOME ACCEPTABLE WHEN IT'S LABELLED PROGRESSIVE?
Control speech. Control movement. Control thought.
These are serious questions about individual liberty and the limits of political power.
But does society judge authoritarian behaviour consistently across the political spectrum?
In this clip from the Helen Haines episode of Honest & Open Conversations, I challenge what I believe are double standards in Australia's political debate.
I also question whether politicians, police and intelligence agencies are sufficiently consistent in how they discuss and respond to ideological extremism.
SHOULD THE POLITICAL LABEL MATTER, OR SHOULD THE BEHAVIOUR BE THE TEST?
The clip raises allegations about institutional double standards; those allegations are arguments for examination, not independently established findings.
