What happens when a queer director who grew up going to Christian schools finally gets a chance to make a movie about it? The result is strange: a story that begins as a dark comedy and ends as something you'd expect to find on the Hallmark Channel. Dan and Ryan discuss the highs and lows of 2004's Saved starring Jena Malone, Mandy Moore, and Macaulay Culkin. It's a mix of spot-on satire and cringey comedic bits that haven't aged well, with some confusing theological messaging thrown in for good measure. But you get to hear Dan and Ryan talk about their respective experiences with Christian sex ed! It's as horrifying as you think.
