Your Baby Week By Week is a brilliant handbook for new mums. Small babies take up lots of time, particularly in the first six months, so the bite-sized approach to topics such as crying, feeding, sleeping and weaning is perfect for helping mums through all the challenges of the early days and inspiring them to feel confident.

So after having my baby and being perfectly in tune with him, I decided to listen to this book “to get the knowledge”, there will be no harm of additional information I thought. My baby was 7 weeks when I started and I was exclusively breastfeeding. Then when he was around 11 weeks, I had appointments with midwife and psychologist 3 days in a row, and suddenly my baby, who would always sleep perfectly from 9 pm to 2-3 am, started to wake up by midnight. That was very saddening. But then the book suggested “the perfect solution” for exactly my case - just refuse feeding him during the night and feed more during the day. And stick to it for a while for the baby to adapt. Simple, I thought. So I tried it when he turned 12 weeks and the situation didn’t improve, and I was doing it for less than a week when I realise that things got horribly wrong. The effect however was devastating! Not only he didn’t start to eat better during the day, he stopped sleeping properly at night and now became overtired and would scream for hours during the day, refusing to eat altogether. He never cried like this before, didn’t have colics nor purple crying. Now that was endless cycle. Needless to say how much it influenced me. I would also cry daily hopeless, not being able to cope. It took me more than a month to make him sleep again. It influenced the breastfeeding so much so that I almost lost the lactation entirely as since I stopped lactating abruptly at night I started to have engorgement, mastitis and it is recurring ever since, and I had to struggle for another 3 months to return to having enough milk. He’s 6,5 months old now, my whole motherhood experience changed from happy and calm to daily struggle, with nervous outbreaks and hysteria. I wish I had never opened this title and continued doing things my way, listening to my maternal instincts.
Dear authors, I would like to express my deepest concerns that you suggest such drastic measures to new parents. Your book almost ended my breastfeeding journey, making it a significant challenge every day, and turned my happy motherhood into struggle and misery. I wish you would read this commet and make corrections. I will later reach out to you by email to submit my complaint.

The book to avoid as a first time mother!
