good story, revealing once again interesting issues of Venetian history, intertwined in the story. The pronunciation of Italian words by the reader was painful however. E.g. he pronounced the name of Brunetti's daughter Chiara as cha.ra instead of kja.ra. Ciara, pronounced cha.ra does not mean anything in Italian, and means egg white in venetian dialect. Poor girl! And this is only one example.
