Tara Westover was 17 the first time she set foot in a classroom. Born to survivalists in the mountains of Idaho, she prepared for the end of the world by stockpiling home-canned peaches. In the summer she stewed herbs for her mother, a midwife and healer, and in the winter she salvaged in her father's junkyard. Her father forbade hospitals, so Tara never saw a doctor or nurse. Gashes and concussions, even burns from explosions, were all treated at home with herbalism. Then, lacking any formal education, Tara began to educate herself. Her quest for knowledge transformed her.

Beloved author Elizabeth Gilbert returns to fiction with a unique love story set in the New York City theater world during the 1940s. Told from the perspective of an older woman as she looks back on her youth with both pleasure and regret (but mostly pleasure), City of Girls explores themes of female sexuality and promiscuity, as well as the idiosyncrasies of true love. In 1940, nineteen-year-old Vivian Morris has just been kicked out of Vassar College, owing to her lackluster freshman-year performance.

Description
When Alice Love surfaces from a beautiful dream to find she's been injured in a gym, she knows that something is very wrong – she hates exercise. Alice's first concern is her baby – she's pregnant with her first child, and she's desperate to see her husband, Nick, whom she knows will be worried about her. But Alice isn't pregnant. And Nick isn't worried. Alice is the mother of three children and her hostile husband is in the process of divorcing her. Alice has lost ten years of her life.
In the days that follow, small bubbles of the past rise to the surface, and Alice is forced to confront uncomfortable truths. It turns out forgetting might be the most memorable thing that's ever happened to her.

A wonderful reshreshing honest and beautiful book.
Would you consider the audio edition of What Alice Forgot to be better than the print version?
Yes, the Australian narrator nailed the funny moments and accentuated the personalities of the main characters
What other book might you compare What Alice Forgot to and why?
None so far. It was very different and a real opener to how we can change in 10 years, why and how everyone has a different perspective on things
Which character – as performed by Caroline Lee – was your favorite?
I loved Elizabeth and her "homework" to her Doctor
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
WhenAlices senses were overloaded in the hospital by frangrance. Sense of smell is very emotive and it captures this perfectly

Good, but not as great as her others.
I expect a big exciting twist in liane moriarty books, and this one didn't really have one! The conclusion felt like a bit of an anticlimax. As usual though, a Step above the usual chick lit with likeable characters and an engaging story.

A story that sets you thinking
A very entertaining story, read very well, plus even though the story may not be neurologically accurate, the ramblings of Alice set you thinking. It makes you start comparing your actual self with some former self and you start to wonder what you'd think about your life now seen through the eyes of some former self. (The other way round is not so easy either as we remember things seen through the lens of our current self.) Maybe thinking about our current life like Alice does in the book would help some of us to loosen up a bit. A book that I can recommend as entertaining and interesting.

Boring story with a bad narrator
Couldn't wait for the book to get over. Story was so weak. It was especially irritating in the beginning when the people around Alice had to be reminded every 10 minutes that she had amnesia. The narrator's voice made it worse... Especially when she was talking like a child. Wonder why such books get rated so high in Audible.
