Histoire
From the outside, the Delaneys appear to be an enviably contented family. Even after all these years, former tennis coaches Joy and Stan are still winning tournaments, and now that they've sold the family business they have all the time in the world to learn how to 'relax'. Their four adult children are busy living their own lives, and while it could be argued they never quite achieved their destinies, no-one ever says that out loud.

"I'll tell you something, something important. Love is a decision. Not a feeling. That's what you young people don't realise. That's why you're always off divorcing each other. No offence, dear." So decrees the formidable Connie Thrum of Scribbly Gum Island. She is the chief decision-maker of a rather unconventional family and her word is law. In Truly Madly Guilty, Liane Moriarty takes on the foundations of our lives: marriage, sex, parenthood, and friendship. Description
When Alice Love surfaces from a beautiful dream to find she's been injured in a gym, she knows that something is very wrong – she hates exercise. Alice's first concern is her baby – she's pregnant with her first child, and she's desperate to see her husband, Nick, whom she knows will be worried about her. But Alice isn't pregnant. And Nick isn't worried. Alice is the mother of three children and her hostile husband is in the process of divorcing her. Alice has lost ten years of her life.
In the days that follow, small bubbles of the past rise to the surface, and Alice is forced to confront uncomfortable truths. It turns out forgetting might be the most memorable thing that's ever happened to her.

A wonderful reshreshing honest and beautiful book.
Would you consider the audio edition of What Alice Forgot to be better than the print version?
Yes, the Australian narrator nailed the funny moments and accentuated the personalities of the main characters
What other book might you compare What Alice Forgot to and why?
None so far. It was very different and a real opener to how we can change in 10 years, why and how everyone has a different perspective on things
Which character – as performed by Caroline Lee – was your favorite?
I loved Elizabeth and her "homework" to her Doctor
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
WhenAlices senses were overloaded in the hospital by frangrance. Sense of smell is very emotive and it captures this perfectly

Which character – as performed by Caroline Lee – was your favorite?
I liked all of them but my favourite was Franny

Realistic, funny and touching
I could hardly stop listening. The story seems very true to reality. I love the way the author interprets her characters, so honest and sometimes very funny. And of course I love Caroline Lee as a reader. It's so easy to listen to her. She is a very talented lady.

Such a nicely written story!! Couldn’t stop listening
I truly enjoyed this book! It’s the first time I read something written by Liane Moriarty and I feel I won the lottery! The story is nicely written and truly relatable, the characters are lovable, and the narration is nicely accomplished.
I can’t wait to tackle more books from this author!

Good, but not as great as her others.
I expect a big exciting twist in liane moriarty books, and this one didn't really have one! The conclusion felt like a bit of an anticlimax. As usual though, a Step above the usual chick lit with likeable characters and an engaging story.

A story that sets you thinking
A very entertaining story, read very well, plus even though the story may not be neurologically accurate, the ramblings of Alice set you thinking. It makes you start comparing your actual self with some former self and you start to wonder what you'd think about your life now seen through the eyes of some former self. (The other way round is not so easy either as we remember things seen through the lens of our current self.) Maybe thinking about our current life like Alice does in the book would help some of us to loosen up a bit. A book that I can recommend as entertaining and interesting.

Not another simple lost-my-memory-story
What seems to sound simply constructed and comedic in the beginning turns out to be a very deep story about loosing what is dearest to you: the memory of 10 years of your life, raising your children, loving your husband, becoming an “adult”. All seems to be lost for Alice waking up to her older self she can’t stand. Must read! Makes you cherish family and friends you have in your live and think about how you want your life to be in 10 years time.

Wunderbare Geschichte
Wunderbar gelesen! Unbedingte Empfehlung @

Brilliant idea
Loved the idea, and found myself wondering what if ... My daughter wasn't born ten years ago, and I thought I'd missed my chance of becoming a mother. What if, indeed, I lost ten years of memories!
Loved so many of the characters, little Olivia, Fran, Madison, ... They're entirely believable. Excellent narrator, too!

Interesting premise, slightly annoying main character
I loved some of Liane moriarty’s books and there were bits of this one I enjoyed. The idea of losing your memory and starting again would be great story and parts were well done. But often I was sidelined because I found the main character (& her sister) quite irritating. Worth reading if you like her books and maybe I was in the wrong place but for me this was a bit tedious.
