Just a tad uninteresting for me.

I was hoping for something different, more a who done it than the why everyone thinks it's this guy and why it's bad to demonize others out of desperation, grief, and laziness. It's definitely a competent production, though I could have dealt with the constant reintroductions. I understand it was for radio, but when you ported it over would it truly have been so difficult to cut that part out? Yo I know full well the book/show in listening to how is that not redundant? Hyper specific gripe I know, but still.

    Good wrap-up

If you haven't listened to the West Cork story, go do so before listening to "Aftershow". It is totally worth your time. I, myself, am not a listener of documentaries or true life crime stories so when I decided to take this on as an Audible Original Listen I did not think I would make it to the end. West Cork was addictive and hard to walk away from. The local and blow-in characters in the story are fascinating and intriguing to listen too. The background story alone is captivating. The sound engineering and narrators Sam Bungey and Jennifer Forde transport you to this scenic and seemingly barren part of Ireland where people go to disappear. So for such a story to draw so much attention to the area must have been a total shock to the residents of the area.

West Cork: Aftershow is a followup to the original seres where Sam and Jennifer answer a few questions about the story and main characters. I could have used much more content and some of the answers understandably are vague because the story and court cases are still unfolding however after investing myself in the series this was quite satisfying to listen to.

I hope the reporters either followup further with this story when the final appeals are finished or can find a new story for fans of the series.

    Nothing Answered

This was just a bunch of non-answers and hum-hoing. No new info was shared, nothing had happened yet in the case. A complete waste of a half hour

    Nothing to Say

This "Aftershow" is basically just a bonus episode to the "West Cork" true crime series that came out a few years ago about an unsolved Irish murder. A third party journalist interviews the investigative journalist spouse duo who produced the original true crime series, and they reflect on the reception of the series by the general public as well as the two families involved (the victim's and the accused). They discuss certain aspects that they chose not to include in the final series production, as well as ideas for possibly revisiting this story if new evidence or developments come to life.

However, this 30min discussion didn't have anything new to add to the story, and it didn't make the original series any more interesting than it is without this "Aftershow" existing. I really saw this as Audible grasping at straws and running out of ideas of new and interesting Audible Originals to come out with. I just did not see why this existed at all. I listened to the original series, so nothing was spoiled for me by listening to this, and this piece is free for Audible Members, so I did not lose anything financially by listening to this. It was just a waste of my time, and I wish I had listened to a random YouTube video instead or something.

    Bazinga

I listened to this to see if I'd enjoy the podcast/book. After I finished this I purchased the book to listen to it. This is a podcast that audible created and it seems intriguing. The narrators were good. This is an interview/podcast format.

Disclaimer: I've been listening at 2x speed for so long anything else sounds like slow motion. My enjoyment of the narrator is based on my listening speed. I only leave 5 stars for books I've listened to multiple times.

    Too soon for ‘aftershow’

Believe there is still more to be told after the released podcasts but this aftershow only answered one of my questions. Definitely waiting for more.

Not my cup of tea, but well done.

I'm not a true crime fan, I did listen to the end, and it was an interesting listen.

    Well worth a listen

Although there are still unanswered questions, I felt the interview with the authors did provide some grounding to “West Cork”, and did advance the narrative.

I would totally disagree with other readers on the “spoiler” alert. Indeed, if you listened to this follow up 1st, you would know too much about how the book turned out. It would’ve spoiled the reading.

So read the really worthwhile “West Cork”, then circle back around to this addendum.

    All in all, bravo.

    good follow up

This 30 minute follow up was almost more interesting than the series. I felt like some questions were answered, although there's still no resolution to this case. It did make me appreciate the series more because it gives the listener the opportunity to go "behind the scenes", so to speak.
