Pamela Blum wants nothing more than to marry the man of her dreams - Samuel Eicher. Handsome, devoted, and Amish to the very marrow of his bones, Samuel can be a little picky at times, but they've been quietly courting for nearly two years now. Samuel could propose at any minute, and Pamela can't wait. Her future is all planned out ahead of her.
Until one day, a tragic event shatters that future. Pamela finds herself feeling alone and confused, lost without the support of her best friend and cousin Millie.
What's more, Millie left behind a little girl and begged Pamela to promise to care for the toddler. Pamela's world is suddenly filled with questions.
Why is Samuel so against the idea of Pamela caring for little Cindy? Is he really the man she wants to marry? How can she choose between the man her heart loves and the promise she made to a dying friend? And with her crystal-clear future now murky, can she see the kind and gentle Lucas, somehow, fitting into it?
