An awesome bundle...

Three great stories in this bundle and each was great in their own right. The writing is engaging and entertaining and the narration by Kenneth Obi is phenomenal! Below is a rundown of each story in this bundle...

Psycho Romeo: What a wonderful book. I loved the characters (Geoffrey and Sven) and I loved the story line. I will admit that I was a bit surprised at the "bad" person, which only made me love the story that much more. Ah, to fall in love amidst the mayhem, what a story to tell the grandkids. Looking forwarding to reading the next in the series.

Dantes Unglued: The tale of Quinn and Shane was one that intrigued me...casual to 'oh my god, I gotta have you' so quickly provided a bit of whiplash for me. But I did enjoy the backstory to their budding romance and I am glad that the two of them found each other.

Deadly Dorian: I thoroughly enjoyed this story. I found Marc to be a determined individual and Royce filled with mystery and intrigue. I liked the back story as these two characters developed their relationship. The intrigue, the mystery, and the doggies. Cute. A great listen.

Three action packed books in one!

The first three Ward Security books are action packed, complex stories full of great characters! I enjoyed all three. I had to suspend belief in the third book. Marc hires Royce to be his bodyguard and within a week or so something major happens with Royce (the bodyguard). Royce is secretive, so instead of calling on his coworkers and best friend to help him, he tells Marc- the one who just met him. Ok, I could maybe believe that, but what I could not believe is that this man who has known him for such a short time would fly him to a different country and do some seriously illegal and deadly things to help him. I’m trying not to give away spoilers here. But as completely unbelievable as that is, the story is fast paced, complex, and has enough passion to light up Paris. So in the end it gets a 4 star rating.

I love these guys! even more than the others. Their stories should definitely be expanded upon.

Loved it

I love the guys of Ward Security. This bundle is perfect because it gives you the chance to listen to them back to back. I also love the late Kenneth Obi. He was a great narrator and is sorely missed. I would love to see the newer books in this series done but they would have to get a different narrator and it just wouldn't be the same.

It’s ok

I like the stories, having read them first, and knew what they would be like. They have a little more camp and humor to them than the Unbreakable Bonds books.
The narration was not so great. Big buys were deep gruff voices while the not so big guys (aka most of the non Ward MCs and Quinn the IT guy) all sounded like tweens whose voices hadn’t broken yet. The narration didn’t ruin the stories but didn’t add to the experience like good voice actors can.

Cookie cutter MM protector romance

Three MM pairs, all with white men, one growly and strong, the other playing the role of damsel and voiced high. While each “damsel” has a different occupation, they are all soft jobs (influencer, tech geek, and artist) to go with their effeminate roles. Frankly, there wasn’t much difference between these and the usual MF couples. I would have liked it if one of the couples featured two equally alpha guys, or how about some race or cultural diversity? Heck, how about some orientation diversity? I get that this is MM romance, but everyone except family members, the bad guy, or the requisite phobic trope character is gay. Every story features a member of Ward Security falling for the client and ignoring how this compromises his ability to provide security. For that matter, the rest of Ward Security just laughs this off, allowing for the needed security lapses to create peril.

If you’re going to stick with the same formula for your MM protector romance in all three books, there’d better be great heat, humor, action, personality and plot. Here, everything was on the vanilla end. Oh, and implausible with security and mystery plot holes you could drive a bus through.

Some of my dissatisfaction is due to the narration, which didn’t cook for me at all. Perhaps this is because this is a spin-off from another MM series and the narrator ran out of new, sexy voices for the leads? I think I’ve enjoyed the narrator for other books, but here, every pair sounded like a stodgy middle aged man falling for the free spirit sprite. Even with the bundle value, this was just an okay listen. For better MM protector romance, I recommend The Hitman’s Guide trilogy by Alice Winter.

Surprisingly loving and good crime stories

Very well written, the characters remain in character, which is a point for me to enjoy any book, even if we don't know this in the beginning. Succinctly, normal life people sometimes need protection is the theme of most of this series.

There's a little too much repetition and infinite details in places written for a younger audience who haven't the ability to make connections. (Reading/listening about a solo character making coffee in the morning is old unless it's sexy or leads to a lead.) Other than these examples I like this bundle a lot and give it a solid 4.8. I'll listen to it again. All are strong characters, even if there is a little too much back and forth pondering in places by characters used to run out the clock. Ultimately, these are romance stories, but the crime element is stronger and better than usual for those of us who need both together.

As for the crime story, this is neither too hardboiled nor too easy going, It exists in that odd space in between because the crime stories and characters are strong for the less intense crowd. Other than the fact that there are way too many love scenes to pump up the page count and qualify as a romance (I skipped several), this is a great bundle. The sex doesn't ruin the crime/suspense climaxes, which is always a plus for those of us who want the climax to fit the crime.

I love and miss Kenneth. It's always good to hear his voice again. This series is one where his very specific, unapologetic, and unusual audio character shines through in a very good bundle of earlier protection agency crime stories. I'm not really into the protection agency genre that often, but I think this series would stand up to many of them I've opted for. And, while humor isn't intended or even possibly exist here, these serious stores don't make your stomach ache with darkness or fear all the way through. This is not suspense.

Addictive

Love the characters and how they move between stories from the original series into this spin-off. The story is strong enough to be mainstream without all the steamy bits.

The worst narrator imo

I really enjoyed reading the books and was excited to see them on audible. I wish I had noticed who the narrator was. I avoid Kennetg Obi, regardless how good the book is. His reading voice really grates on my nerves.

What a ride!!

Woo hoo! This box set took me on one heck of a ride! The twist and turns in each book kept me guessing. The love that develops was in spite is what else was going on and the last book in this volume really took a different turn, but it was so awesome!!
