Description
Includes a bonus deleted scene! Book three in the USA Today best-selling White Monarch trilogy. Complete series available now.
I’ve become a queen to the forsaken, a leader to thieves, and the wife of a man who instills fear in all who cross his path. He was the husband I didn’t want. Now, I can’t fathom life without my king.
I should’ve been ready for anything. Like the caterpillar that feeds on poison during metamorphosis, I was raised in the dangerous world of cartel crime. But nothing could’ve prepared me for Cristiano de la Rosa, his brother’s poison, or the Calavera cartel.
This is still a story about a love strong enough to topple households, unite enemies, and divide brothers. Resilient enough to bring down those who would try to destroy it...and selfless enough to make the ultimate sacrifice.
But I was warned, and so were you. Death’s day always comes.
This time, it will find what was once a caterpillar is now a butterfly - and hell hath no fury like the White Monarch.

I LOVED.. LOVED.. LOVED IT
Right through the whole wonderful trilogy I was one hundred percent invested in this couple’s rollercoaster relationship as the pull of their chemistry.. the push of the situation.. and the passionate dedication Cristiano had for his beloved Natalie, was shaken and tested over and over again. Natalie’s metamorphosis from a naive virginal pawn in the first book to Cristiano’s strong feisty heroic Queen willing to fight or die by the man she loved, had already gone through so many complex emotional challenges already. Yet, in this final book, it stops being a battle between a devoted husband and his unwilling wife because Natalie finally puts all the puzzle pieces together and learns the truth about her husband, learns who the villains were behind her mother’s murder and finally learns how to trust, forgive and love Cristiano.
Jessica Hawkins has written a multi-layered gem of a story that drew me in from the start and didn’t let me go. The passion and protectiveness Cristiano had for Natalie was beautiful, his dirty mouth and descriptions of what he was going to do to her was.. well pheweee!! and his love shone throughout the scenes. Natalie’s nineteen year old naivety and rejection slowly morphed into a twenty year old’s understanding and coming to terms with the challenges and rewards of the world around her. Of what her husband stood for and what he was offering her.. and, as her awareness grew, so did respect and undying love blossom for her loyal husband. But their enemies weren't all vanquished, a snake in the grass was slithering towards them and devastation and heartbreak was is in the wind.
Worth a credit? Yes, yes and yes.. this outstanding well-everythinged trilogy packs a mighty punch, Spectacular dual POV narration by Emma and Brian brought the weighty myriad of feels, the characters, the action-packed unique bulky trilogy and the hold-your-breath tension, the sexy as f’k and the swoon-worthy scenes to life.. and Emma your hero’s voice was one hundred percent believable and phenomenal. Eighty percent told from Natalie’s PoV. Yes, the heroine was a little younger than I normally like but her journey gave her the strength and understanding she was lacking at the start and made her a survivor.

FROM THE STORY LINE TO THE NARRATORS, A+++++++++++
I read the mixed reviews on this book (and series as a whole) but was tired of scrolling books and decided to take my chances. I was not disappointed and in fact binge listened to all 3 books in this series in 4 days. I actually bought my own credits to purchase the last book, that is how much I was in love with the story and needed to hear the ending.
Some of the story line is a tad unrealistic and extravagant but it just stands to pull you further into the story. I loved escaping from my mundane life to hear of luxury and power, suspense and passion. Parts of this series actually had me talking out loud to myself willing the character to listen to what I had to say. The twist and turns and unknowns are nonstop. It was just the refresh and mental exercise I needed.
I am VERY picky with narration. These narrators are spot on. They are clear, easy to understand but have such a quality to their voices. ESPECIALLY Cristiano's!!! MmmmMmmm! Take the chance on this series, you will not be disappointed!

Great ending!
This book alone made up for books 1&2! What a wild ride! Overall, I enjoyed the whole series. I laugh, got mad at the MCs and cried at the end.
Narration was good! No complaints.

Well, now.
What was supposed to be a "in between/waiting for a different book's release date" purchase is officially now on my top 5 list. And that's a hard-earned award. I won't go through the plot...no doubt other reviewers have thoroughly done so already. I can, however, speak to the story's sense of imbalance, which keeps you on the edge of your seat. The characters are well fleshed out and interesting. There are a few overused phrases (can't remember them atm), and a few eye roll moments. Nothing that will deter you from loving this series.
Random separate note: Brian Pallino IS Christian Fox, who co-reads. I'm so tired of trying to track down Christian Fox 's narration that I officially give up. He wins. He uses so many different names that I stopped jotting them down. If he doesn't want us to find him, I won't bother hunting anymore.
