Worse, the Mages would consider his abilities "blood magic," the greatest crime of all, the punishment for which would leave him begging for a quick death.
Not that I had any desire to die again. "Once was enough, thank you!" I couldn't believe it happened in Vegas, of all places! But at least that would allow me to gamble my future on a risky bet that could pay off big . . . or lead to my doom.
