    Description

From the New York Times and USA Today best-selling author of the adult thriller Wired, The Prometheus Project: Trapped is the first book in a critically acclaimed science fiction series loved by kids and adults alike.

A fantastic alien city buried deep underground. What wonders - and what dangers - is it hiding?

Ryan and Regan Resnick have just moved to the world's most boring place. But when they discover their parents are part of an ultra-secret project called Prometheus, they are plunged into a nonstop adventure - one that will be the ultimate test of their wits, courage, and determination. Soon they are under attack and facing hostile alien worlds, alien technology, and unimaginable dangers at every turn. Now, with their mother facing certain death, they must race to solve a seemingly impossible mystery to have any hope of saving her. But if they save their mom, they will have no way to save themselves.

"Josh Hurley skillfully creates siblings Ryan and Regan Resnick, who have left their San Diego hometown and moved to 'boring' Brewster ('Snooze-ter'), Pennsylvania, with their parents. The parents, who are scientists, are secretive about the work they're doing, and the kids decide to investigate. Hurley exuberantly portrays the pair as they evade security to enter an alien city that defies science as we know it and will potentially change the course of human history. Listeners will be captivated by the brainy kids whose clever ideas help them cope with uncommon challenges, credible-sounding scientists, and the growing tension when someone is seriously injured. Helpful mini-science lessons add interest and explain a rousing conclusion." (AudioFile Magazine)

Made for youth but loved by this adult!!

I'm a sci-fi loving woman, always have been. This story is probably written with youth in mind but it's just a great story for anyone who loves to read about the possibility that we are not alone. The story is about a couple of kids who find out that their parents are involved in something big. They go to great lengths to discover the truth. I loved how imaginative the kids were in solving problems and I learned a lot from that! It's a story of a hidden city that aliens put on earth a long time ago and was discovered by scientists long before the aliens thought it would be. I'm looking forward to the next book to see where the adventure will go from here! "Audible 20 Review Sweepstakes Entry."

    Intended audience of 10yr Olds

Was hoping for the story to develop beyond the perspective and comprehension of a middle schooler but have up after 1/3 of the way thru.

More geared towards a middle school audience

First let me say, there are YA books, then there are books that are more geared to REALLY younger kids - say middle school. This was one of those books.

I like Douglas Richards as an author. There have been many, many of his books that have kept my interest and had me holding my breath as things came to a climax in whichever story arc I was reading. With this book however, I just felt like I was NOT the target audience. And truly, there is nothing wrong with that.

This book is supposed to have a somewhat science base to it, but it is told in a way that...again....a middle schooler could follow. By this I mean seriously breaking down fairly common concepts, then repeating them several times to help make sure these concepts don't go over the head of the reader, and then giving examples of said concepts.

Plus, the two MC's are two young kids. I don't remember their age, but I got the impression that the boy is around 12 years old and the girl maybe 10? Just a guess as I can't remember if they actually told us their ages.

So, while the story definitely had some interesting plot points, I don't think that I was the intended demographic. Or maybe it would be better to say that this story would be GREAT with a target demo age group of 10 to 14 years of age. IMO.

    Good

It's brief, but well-written. It's only book one, but at this point, I think the next two books should simply be part of the same book to make one typically sized book. Good content for YA fiction.

Written for 4th graders, not labeled as such

This is a book written for children, that Amazon promotes as an all ages science fiction book . It is not. It's written for 8 year olds.
