Description
Hell on earth.
That’s what it’s like for Luce to be apart from her fallen angel boyfriend, Daniel. It took them an eternity to find one another, but now he has told her he must go away. Just long enough to hunt down the Outcasts—immortals who want to kill Luce. Daniel hides Luce at Shoreline, a school on the rocky California coast with unusually gifted students: Nephilim, the offspring of fallen angels and humans.
At Shoreline, Luce learns what the Shadows are, and how she can use them as windows to her previous lives. Yet the more Luce learns, the more she suspects that Daniel hasn’t told her everything. He’s hiding something—something dangerous. What if Daniel’s version of the past isn’t actually true? What if Luce is really meant to be with someone else?
The second novel in the addictive Fallen series... where love never dies.

Great plot, but a lot of filler.
I love the idea behind this story, but just like with Fallen i find myself wondering, "Um, can we just get to the point already?" The story is full of fluffy little moments which are cool for first books, but kinda tedious when you have been waiting a year for the next installment. Great plot, love the new characters and the explanations behind last book's villains. It gets exciting towards the last couple chapters and sets it up nicely for the next book in the series.
I am a sucker for a good love triangle and this story has it again. I recommend picking it up if you liked fallen, but if you are impatient you might want to preview it.
Narrator: Awesome

the story was well written but...
the narrator was odd in her different voices. I just didn't like it. she has a nasaly voice and it distracted me from the story.

Enjoyed but left me wanting
This book was wonderful with the suspense necessary to get the reader completely involved in the story. I thoroughly enjoyed it. Having read the first in the series, I was excited to see how the story continued and it did not disappoint having plenty of action and drama. However, the build up through the whole story did not come full circle and the ending just left the reader feeling like they had not received the payoff that they had invested the time to receive. Obviously, a middle book in a series,....this author seems to think that leaving the reader hanging is a way to make sure they come back for more. I believe that a story should wrap itself up leaving intrigue to get the reader to read the next book. The sudden ending, left me wanting more, but unsatisfied that I hadn't been rewarded with any of the "promises" I felt the author had set up.

It was good but I expected more.
I loved the narrator of the book I think she's very talented and she manages to pull off every single character distinctively and beautifully. The way she changes her voice to every character in a way that you know who it is and her ability to change to the next is amazing. Now as for the story, it was good BUT I did expected to be a little different from the first buuuttttt it wasn't. I really liked the story I think it was well written but the whole playing blind victim and the "oh save me" thing was actually a bit much. It was really frustrating hear the same dynamic between the characters in regards to saving Luce and wanting to protect her from deliberately knowing something she is supposed to find out on her own. I felt like they were treating her like a glass figure and and how she should always be careful. They expected her to know so much but none of them would tell her anything about her past and why she is so important. I loved the way she finally stood up for herself at the wth Miles's help by creating a mirror image of her. She finally gave up trying to figure everything so with some semblance of hope she took a leap in search of the truth.

Well Done!
I thoroughly enjoyed the character in Fallen and now Torment. It has been a pleasure to see the development of the previous characters and the introduction of new characters and how they may influence the former characters. I find myself torment and am not sure if I am routing for the relationship to work out or not. The ending leaves just enough to have you wanting more...next stop: Passion.

Wait until the author completes the series...
Unfortunately, Kate decided that making money on a book series was more important than writing a comprehensive book. Despite more than 7 hours of no action or plot development, I thought the ending of Fallen was truly enjoyable, enough so that I purchased Torment. Granted, Torment had more action and plot development, but there was no ending to the book – the alleged heroine simply runs away. Readers are pretty much left on tethered hooks until the next book comes out in a year. I get that Kate planned on making a series of Fallen, but each book should have the capacity to stand on its own as a good piece of fiction. At this point, I will not buy another book in the series until they are all written, but chances are by then I will have likely lost interest.

Fantasy!!
Very good fantasy. Twilightish, but with a bit more action and seems more detailed. The second book doesn't appear like a bridge and it left me with a lot question. I would recommend it to my friends.
